well in school ive been doing really bad and have like 2 "f"s and a D, and when he found out about my grades he said he was going to keep the 55g w/ overflows that we picked up last weekend and that he doesnt want me to put the mh in because he says that my tank takes up to much electricity but after some research on electricity of my tank that my tank only tanes up like $20 a month and told him my tank is taking up less power than one 300w halogen light that we have in our house.(we have like 5) and so after showing him this he let my set up the mh that would make my tank like a little less that 2 halogen lights. and since the semester is over and now im only failing one class and he'll know ill do better if i want to play football next year he let me keep the tank and im so excited because if he didnt give me the tank i was going to sell my tank and buy a 02' YZ450f...and even thought i really want the bike im taking the tank and maybe ill get the bike soon.......o ya and after putting the mh in it made my tank so amazing...
thanks for listening

What the hell still have an "F" and you got the tank back. Good for you but how did you pull that one off? F's are no good buddy. Means redoing the class for one but it also affects your future. Do you want to end up like the rest of us? Spending more time on RC then at work? I suggest you buckle down and get at least passing grades.

YEP!

Mickey D's is not where you want to be working for teh rest of your life. If it is, then you better give up the idea of a bike AND a tank.

Congratulations on weasling your way out, and by all means please post pics. But on a personal note from experience, get that grade up ASAP even if it means trashing your tank. Take it from me, because of one "F" in an elective for missing too many days of school when I was in high school, I lost a full ride to the university of my choice (I wasn't into Harvard or anything :) ). I was actually off by .02 from getting that scholarship at the end of the year. I busted my butt for nothing, and now I have a meager job to pay for it. Just, please, look ahead.

Yamaha Racer,

Print this post out and give it to your dad.

"Dear Dad of Yamaha Racer,

Your son was failing 2 classes, and getting a D in another. Now he has improved to only failing one class. Because of that improvement you let him have his fish tank back, and he is contemplating buying a motor cycle.

I'm a father as well. I think you should take away his tank, all of his motorcycles, boot him off the football team, and make him do nothing but study until he is getting at least a B in every subject.

High school is easy, and all that he is getting prepared for with his current grades is being a fry cook at McDonalds.

Fix it now before it is too late.

Signed,

Another Concerned Father"

yeah im only 14 and my parents agreed to give me a Tunze 6080 if I got all B's or better and let me tell you that was no small feat but it was well worth the wait. and if you are wondering about the setup that i have to maintain all on my own look below this in my signature and i forgot to mention that i have over 30 chickens, a 75 FW, 3 birds, 2 dogs, 2 cats and my favorite, a PAIR OF PEACOCKS! I would seriously focus on your grades and just keep the tank okay while you work on your schoolwork.

LOL, I had to laugh out loud at this one....

But in all seriousness, definitely agree (plus maybe work on punctuation?... not trying to be rude, it's just tough to read). If you are having that much trouble, RC is the last place you should be. To get rewarded for slack work when you are so young is nothing to brag about... and h.s. is the easiest it's gonna be for a long, long time. You may feel psyched because you cheated the system, but you actually cheated yourself.

Just by reading your first post I can tell that the low grades are showing especially in grammar and spelling. Personally, I would make sure the tank didn't get set up until AFTER the grades were up and stayed there.

Dude, look at it this way. Get great grades now, study hard, and then when you get into a good college from your good grades and get a good job from your good grades you can get a 150 or 1000 gallon if you want. You don't want to be unemployed with a 55 and nothing else.

Well it could be that. But it might be because he has a poor eye sight too........

There is a spell checker for that problem.

If you're doing poorly in biology, chemistry, math, or even physics, why not turn your tank into a special project for extra credit? Marine systems are complex biotopes, and can provoke innumerable scientific debates ranging from conservation to hydrochemistry -- there's virtually no limit on the possible range of paper topics! I'm sure your teachers would be thrilled to see you engaged in a practical application of course materials. :)

I'm not buying it.

Can I get you some Nori with that?

And I'm not buying it either...

I'm sorry it seems like we're beating up on you, yamaha (you didn't get that much sympathy in the lounge about the suspension incident either)... but I think it's more that we're trying to show you that in the real world, getting away with stuff like this won't impress anyone, and in the long run, you'll hurt your own future.

It's a lionfish eat lionfish world out there...

lol man this kid got a beating for the F's, but I agree, you either have to try to get Fs or not do ANYTHING to get F's in my opinion. So just try a little, and study a little and you should be able to get at least C's!

Just another typical American kid....Maybe you could be President some day....

Sometimes you might think you are getting away with something but it'll come back in the to you in the future and bite hard....

Try a tutor.....there is no disgrace and you may learn ways to make studying easier and more worthwhile...

Good luck kid!

Yamaha, I'll tell ya something- I know, I know- you're probably rolling your eyes, thinking "here we go, another ole' fart, fixing to say, "when I was your age...." BUT- when I was your age, I hated science, biology, math, etc. (I actually excelled in English, Lit, & history, so at least my grammar and puncuation is correct! :). "Why do I need to know all that crap", I asked myself- I'm not interested, and will never do anything in my life that concerns that "stuff". Well, here I am in a hobby, that is SO MUCH full of "that stuff"! I absolutely Love this hobby, have been in it for years, it's my passion, & I struggle, I mean Struggle, to comprehend the "scientific" and biology part of it. Which is Most of it! The success I've had, is mostly just doing what I know I'm supposed to do and what various water tests tell me, & also what the tankmates and inhabitants tell me by how they look... so stick to your studies, please, and really soak it up while you're young- when you get to be older, it's harder to learn and much harder to retain. Best of luck to you and I wish you the best in your studies, and consequently, your reef hobby. :)

Dude, don't waste your money on the yamaha. Get a CRF450 and never look back, trust me. The 02 YZs are heavy, crappy suspension and the enginge has very exlosive power that makes it way harder to ride. The CRF blows the crap out of the yamaha.
