my diamond goby jumped out

I bought a diamond goby for my 38 gal. tank, and I had it for about a week when I added another 20 lbs of live sand to my 20 lbs of live sand. About 5 days later I found it on the ground behind my tank. Does anyone know why it did that?

If you don't keep the tank covered you will eventually suffer losses. Some people who cover their tanks fall victim as well.

Some fish just like to jump. The main thing now is to get some kind of cover on your tank before you lose more fish.

True, but at least you decrease the odds.

Diamond gobies are notorious jumpers. Cover the tank, or have screening on the back. Once they're acclimated and happy, they'll usually be fine. The first few weeks though, they're proned to jump, and will jump if spooked.

Sorry for your loss, been there with this fish.....
