My dog Susie RIP 04/04/09

My constant companion, and best friend left us a year and a day ago. I had her for 15 wonderful years....and was devastated when I lost her....but she ate dinner, laid down on her blanket and went to sleep, forever...kinda like I would like to go.

I was getting over it....as I did not have kids, she was my kid.

Then yesterday, on the anniversary of her going across the rainbow bridge.....I am out in the backyard getting the boat ready to dive today, and up my drive way trots this little ball of fur, full of stickers and pretty desperate.

This dog, also a she, sits right down next to my leg, and looks up with her one good eye, as the other is white from cataracts, and gives me a look that made me freeze. The little thing followed me around ALL day, stuck to my leg.

I am not really ready for this, so searched the neighborhood looking for an owner. Poor thing has no collar....no ID. Well it is getting dark and I give her some prime rib we had last night and ice water.

I opened the porch door so she could sleep inside if she wanted too. I get up at 5 am this morning to go diving, and the little thing is curled up on the same rocking chair that was Susie's favorite. I feel like I am in that movie "Are the gods crazy":rolleye1:

So if tomorrow comes and I still have dog...I guess it is off to the vet and get her checked out when I get home from diving.......

Hidden blessings

Hidden blessings

I'm so sorry for your loss of Susie, Richard. I have often thought of her over the years. The picture of her with her sitting in your truck with her front leg on the armrest has never left me...

and bless you for taking such good care of the new lil' gal in need! If you get to keep her I'm sure she will bring you loads of happiness! If you find her a different home, you will have the happiness of that too...

Animals...furry, finned or otherwise, are such wonders aren't they? The way they touch us. And allow us to touch them...

Well the little thing was still here when I got home today.....so I guess it is off to the vet tomorrow to get her checked out...she is really old I believe....one eye is totally white ..the other has some cataracts, but she can see, and the nose works well also......I guess she was meant to spend here last days here.......I am thinking somebody dumped the poor little thing...being that no collar was on her....and she seems not to be from this neighborhood....little girl has a big appetite!

I'm not generally one to make these sorts of posts but I felt inclined to in this case.

You have a good heart Richard! :bounce3:

Well....right now it is

'Little ****'

as she has progressed from being scared to death.....to sleeping on the couch this morning when I got up.......I think she weighs all of 10 pounds.......not shaking anymore....and real hungry!

I'm sorry to hear about Susie Richard, the saddest thing about our four legged family is how little time we get with them.

You know that is sooooo true.....time fly's.....is something we do not recognize when we have them...what a blessing....that we do get the limited time we have for them our 'children'......the new little thing is really growing fast in her development to her new casa....she is a trip...little ball of fur that now is adventurous and much more accustomed to her surroundings.....cocks her head to look at you with her one good eye.....i am like a new dada......I guess it will be time for a boat ride for her soon...

I hate reading sad stories like this but you we all know we still do read them. My Max passed away in Sept 08. he lived for 9 years and had him for 9 years. bought him when he was 12 weeks old from a breeder and he was the best boy for me as i will always say with every dog or ***** that i've had. I'm a dog person and will always be one.
I have Brixx now and he's 1y 6m and the most playful dog i've ever had. He's supposed to be a protector and a guard dog as an amstaff but i think he will be just a dog since he's too friendly, never growls or barks and he loves to give kisses with his bad breath.
Anyway...good luck to your new dog bud. i'm sure he's going to be happy in a new home.

ok...........

ok...........

Ok I can see where this is going...open for suggestions...and will post some pics for thought....

sprechan se deutsch?

you can tell I do not much...

Nicht spreche ich nicht Deutsches.

( Courtesy of Bablefish :lolspin::lolspin::lolspin: Though I used to know how to say "I don't speak your language" in Arabic, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, Mandarin, and Cantonese, I've forgotten in the 20 some years since I learned those phrases.)

Nah, it's a water related name, and it's short, so you can yell it easily if you have to. Not that I appreciate having short names for dogs... For example, I don't regularly have to yell, "MOOSE! Put that down!" or "MOOSE! Spit that out!" or "MOOSE! Don't eat that poo... Oh God NO!". No, no, not at all... ;)
