Hope it helps.

I have decided to remove a few tiles and cut the concrete. I will put in two 3'x12"x1 or 2' deep footings on each end. That way I will know what is under them and I won't have to worry.

A little extra work won't kill me.

consider this thread subscribed. I like the idea of cutting the concrete and puting the footings down to hold that much extra weight. I think now you shouldn't have any doubt it'll hold. It sounds like you have put a lot of planing into the tank and it's going to look great. Going smaller would have really would have ate at you in the future. You obviously weren't happy with the previous tank size, hence the new tank, so why would you cut yourself short. Is the frag tank going to stay in the middle of the floor because i love that idea. Being able to walk all the way around any tank is something I love. good luck on the build, and great job at making hundreds of people jealous.

I have made some progress.

Miracles produced a very fine tank, beautiful polished edges and great silicone work. Its way overbuilt and only has eurobracing so that I can lean on it.

I keep going back and forth on the floor, I think I will just tempt fate and trust that my slab prep is sufficient. The concrete contractor seems to think I will be just fine so I will just leave it alone.

Some pics....

In that last pic you can see a black strip of glass adhered to the bottom of the tank perimeter. Its a euro for the bottem, I was thinking of this very same thing for my big tank and I didn't need to. They do it on all large tanks, sheer and tensile strength.

I have the countertop in as well(not permanently).

Now to order a nice acrylic sump that both tanks will share.

I didn't do anything special to the slab other than making it thicker. I understand that wire mesh or rebar would have added considerable strength but it just didn't happen.
