My female got sick and perished.

So long story short, my 9-10yr old female True Perc. became ill and she perished. I'm pretty sure she caught Brooklynella and went down very quickly. Her and her mate just spawned a few days before she got sick. My male is still guarding the eggs even though she's gone. I'm going to let things settle down and make sure there isn't some kind of outbreak in the tank that I'm not seeing. When I feel everything is safe, I plan on adding another clown in hopes of getting another pair. Will my male pair up with another? Will I be better off adding more then one? Thanks for your input.

Your fish will pair up with another. If the current male is large I suggest you get a very small one because it may turn female since the female is gone. Make sure the tank is clear of any disease and quarantine any new fish that you bring in.

She cannot catch Brook unless you added a clownfish with the disease. Did you added any fish into the system?

I added a Mckosker's flasher wrasse about two weeks prior to it happening. On the Friday this all started, I noticed what was best described as a spider egg sack just between her dorsal fin and head. By Saturday morning, she was covered form head to dorsal in a web like mucus. By the end of the day Saturday, she was pretty much gone. I was able to net her out, and placed her in a hyposalinty tank I set up. It was a fungus or something. Looked nothing like common Ich I've seen with the salt like spots.
