My female GSM only eats flake

Hello all

I have a mated pair of GSM with a BTA. I have had the pair about 8 weeks. At first both were eating well. I feed them a frozen shrimp / squid / vitamin food (finely grated) and occasional flake (TetraMarin). Over the past 2 weeks the female refuses to eat the meaty food. She will take it but spits it out. I have laced the food with garlic but still to no avail. She won't even eat brine shrimp.
However, she totally devours the flake. The male continues to eat fine. She is still looking bright and healthy (at the moment)
My concern is that she is not getting enough protein. Has anybody else experienced this or have any advice for me to help her to eat a varied and substantial diet.

switch to pellets then to more meaty foods. feeding at the surface can give the fish gas by ingesting air.

Have you tried the frozen formula one cubes? You could try not feeding at all for two days. She should be willing to eat what you put in front of her by the third day unless she's sick? They usually have pretty good appetites.

How is her feces? White and stringy by any chance? I'm wondering if she could have internal parasites putting her off her appetite?

First check to make sure all water parameters are fine. Some fish get more picky as the water quality is not up to their standards. If they are fine then try not feeding them for a couple of days.

Thanks for your advice. The parameters are fine. Hopefully she is not sick. It is hard to check feces as she spends all of her time in the anemone. I haven't tried formula one but will do if no improvement. I will stop feeding for a few days and then only feed meaty foods for a while and see what happens. Thanks again
