Now that my tank is done, i thought I would make a thread showing everything that was done along with future progress. I started with a basic 29g tank and a 10g sump. It's going to be a softie only tank eventually, hopefully in a month or two i'll introduce my first coral. Tank has been up and running for just about 2 months now. I wanted to do a larger tank as I have been using 29g for along time, however I already had the stand built so I just stuck with it. The way i built the stand it didnt allow me to run anything bigger than a 10g sump unless i did some serious modifications.... I'll run this tank for awhile and eventually upgrade to something bigger.
What i have done:
29g standard tank drilled with a Bean Animal overflow that I built
3/4" piping for all piping
10g sump with three sections-- drain~small refugium~ return
Sicce 2.0 return pump
Ecotech MP10w --eventually would like to have two of them
Finnex 150w adjustable titanium heater
AutoAqua smart micro ATO
SC301 protein skimmer (have yet to actually fire it up)
AquaticLife 4 bulb T5 lamp
27 lbs of tukani (i think) Live Rock
1" sand bed
I helped cycled the tank using an entire bottle of special blend along with ghost feeding flake food. I waited until i saw everything drop and nitrates were hovering at 5ppm, i did a water change and then waited another couple days and retested. Once i saw it was stable i introduced the fish.
I made a mistake with my last tank of overstocking on fish, not doing that again. Along with wayyyy too much rock work, it was super crowded and the tank crashed.
i have 1 firefish goby and 1 coral banded shrimp, along with some hermits and snails.
I dont have any good closeup pictures on my phone, i'll have to snap some later of the rock work...its great live rock that had a good amount of life on it.
This picture is before i installed the MP10, i was using a temporary 125gph cheap powerhead.

autoaqua micro optical sensor.. its about the size of a penny.

I will be putting a ball of chaeto in the refugium eventually.
