My first Acan

I just ordered my first Australian Lord acan, I've read that the sweepers can kill other corals but yet I see tanks that all corals are in close proximity. I have mostly sps in my tank so how close is too close?

acan sweepers are not tooo long, in comparison to say, catalaphyllia. keep acans by other acans and you are fine. acan lords that is. rotundoflora, echinata are different story. But based on flow and growth rate, proximity to one another is relative. acans grow slow. most sps grow somewhat faster, but most sps would suffer greatly if they encroached on an acan.

i would keep acans at a very low minimum like less than an inch from other acans. a minimum 3 inches from pretty much every thing else, unless you know the sweepers of one to be much longer, like catalaphyllia, certain brain corals, etc. but ALMOST no sps have long sweepers and many sps will lose in a territorial fight.

sorry to be generic, but everyones system is different...now if you had specific corals you were asking about.....and pics always help
