My first anemone experience

So after some thought and a little bit of reading, I decided that I wanted to have an anemone. I went to my LFS and spoke with an employee who sold me a clone from his anemone in his DT. I mentioned that I have Koralia powerheads in my tank and he said that they can get sucked into the powerhead and kill themselves.

I decided that I would either have to turn the powerheads off and risk my tanks health or I would have to cover them up somehow. I went with the latter and looked around the house for some type of netting to put over the powerhead, just until the anemone settled into the tank. After about an hour of looking, and finding nothing, I was about ready to go out to the craft store and buy something. I came across this small, really nice looking white box. I figured, it can't hurt to look. What was inside the box? My girlfriends wedding vail from when she used to be married. I immediately grabbed the scissors and made quick work of that tainted garment.

About 45 minutes later, after I had installed my mod, my girlfriend walks into the house. She noticed the pure white rich looking netting over the powerheads and immediately knew where it was taken from. She looked over to the right of the tank and saw the scissors and what was left from her vail. After a heated discussion and finding out that a wedding vail costs about $400, I showed her our black and white clown playing in the anemone. Something about that made her immediately calm and our agrument was over as fast as it started. She no longer cares about the wedding vail and is sucked back into reef life once again.

Now, I get home from work today to find the anemone crammed between a couple pieces of LR. Should I get it out of there, or is this just a temporary move until it finds a home?

I have the same problem with my anemone. I move the rocks and he just goes towards the back more. I'm going to tag along on this thread.

Oh, I would have to side with your girlfriend on the wedding veil.
As far as the spot your anemone chose, let it be. This is very normal behavior. It is still adjusting to your tank. WHen it's ready it will reach out for light. In my opinion, looks like the perfect spot, they like their foot burried in the rockwork beneath and over hang, gives them security and a plac to retreat. Looks very good so far. How long has your tank been set up? They need a mature stable system.

I figured people would take her side, lol!!! I had no clue how expensive they were! My tank has been established since last march, so just over a year. I'm glad to hear that the anemone is in the correct place. When I clean my tank/water changes, should I do anything different around where it decides to set up camp? I don't want to spook it. I also planned on moving my corals to one side of the tank. I guess I just don't want to mess this up.

I am a woman, when it comes to certain things we have to stick together.
The only thing I say is try not to disturb it. Let it settle and do it's own thing. Get familiar with the behavior of a bta so you don't panic the first time it eliminates and so that you know how to tell something may be wrong. This is a good site with many photos, you may want to check it out.

Just the standard window screen I guess, made of metal. Here is a pic of the most expensive piece of mesh I have ever destroyed.
