my first attempt at an ARTSY-FARTSY rockwall

well i did alot of reserch on foam rock walls and decided to try and do one. i think it came out pretty cool and it wasnt to expensive to do. i had alot of fun doing it ! i hope you enjoy.
THIS WAS WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE B4 I DID POLY RESIN AND DRY CORAL APPLICATION

FULLY DONE AND IN TANK........IT DID NOT FLOAT ON ME!

I ALSO INCORPERATED SOME GREEN LED'S BEHIND SKULL CAVE TO ILLUMINATE THE EYES AT NIGHT ! (THANKS RANDY O)

I MADE A NICE SWIM AROUND CAVE USING PVC PIPE ALONG THE BOTTOM !

NIGHT TIME SHOT...........VERY COOL BEAMS OF LIGHT SHOOT THROUGH THE WATER COLUMN.

well i do kustom airbrushing and paint jobs on bikes and i am noted for the skulls i do.....my logo is also a skull,so i wanted to incorperate a cool skull into the rock wall too! my new candy hog and anthias are actually sharing the skull cave as a night time home....very cool:artist:

Have you ever thought about air brushing an under water 3D scene on the back of your tank instead of the standard single color?

yes dave i have thought about doing it. the only problem is that it has to be painted backwards and must be perfectly thought out b4 hand to do it. all my highlights wouod have to be done first and you work backwords through your colors.i could use t-shirt paints to do it, but to use automotive eurothanes i could do some really crazy paint jobs. maybe i will on my next tank....when i get my 120 or 200 gal tank.......but im really diggin the foam rock wall.......might do it on a larger scale for a 200 gal and really put some thought into building the perfect layout to display corals and maybe pre drill frag disk wholes to insert frags. oh well we will see what happens down the road.

While not ideal you could paint it onto a sheet of glass or acrylic the normal way and mount it behind the glass.

The rock wall looks great. I especially like the cave.

Curious on how reef safe the skull is... Been thinking of using an Easter Island head in my tank but am worried about it leaching something bad in the tank.
