Hello everyone!
I just picked up my first clam today. See the pic below (click for full hi-res).
I've been reading about its care and feeding for a few days now and feel prety comfortable there. My unresolved questions are about placement. I'm running a 55 gallon with 4x55 T5s.
Wetwebmedia suggested not putting the clam directly on the rockwork initially as its permanent and doesn't offer the best acclimitization opportunity. So, as suggested, I buried a small piece of rubble rock just below the surface of the subsrate and placed him on top of it.
Well, after a long drip acclimation, I'm noticing that he is listing to one side. Perhaps this is because of his current attachment to a small piece of rubble rock with byssal threads.
Will he abandon the small piece of rock and "find" my larger buried rock?
Once attached, what do you guys recommend in terms of vertical placement given my lighting?
If anyone has pics of ideal placement "spots" on their rockwork, I would very much like to see them or read a description.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
Best,
Jeff
