My first Gig!

Finally found a blue Gig in a LFS and it looked amazing. No bleaching whatsoever, mouth tightly closed...I had to get him! He's a little guy at about 4".

About 5 minutes in the DT

Quick Video of flow. Look Okay?

Same shop also had a bright green carpet nem, didn't check for verrucae so not sure if it was also a gig. And they had a beautiful Mag that I will probably regret not picking up. Not sure if I can say where I got them, but if anyone if the SF bay area would like to know, PM me. =)

Very nice pickup.

What else is in the tank?

Personally I would have QT'd it for a bit, just to make sure it was good.

The flow looks a bit to strong and in pulses, for my taste. What are you using? Can you lengthen the timing and reduce the flow by about 25%?

Just wondering can we get some tank specs?

temp
pH
sg
lighting type
lighting duration
tank age

Not saying anything is bad, just like to see how others keep their anemones and tank setups.

Appreciate the feedback worm!

Tank is 150g cube with 2 Jebao RW-8s running at about 80% on W1 (pulse) on the slowest setting. I could certainly change them up, perhaps to the W2 (ramping). One of the powerheads is also pointing pretty much straight at the rock the nem is on, I could adjust that as well.

The tank is nem dominated (8 BTAs, 1 Haddoni, and now 1 Gig) with a few zoas and LPS. Fish are currently a pair of clowns, Kole Tang, Starry Blenny and Royal Gamma. Also have a sea apple, maxima clam, sexy shrimp and fire shrimp. I switched from a 90g cube that was up since 6/14 in Jan. 20g water changes every other Sun. or Mon.

Parameters as of 3/5:
Temp: 77
pH: 8.0
sg: 1.026
Lighting is Ocean Revive T247 - 70% blue, 20% white (will probably increase this to 25)
Blues on at 10a, Whites on at 1:30p, off at 7:30p, Blues off at 10p
Mag: 1410
Cal: 440
kH: 8.6

Very nice, thanks for the stats.

If you adjust the PH see if it starts to expand a bit more, I have seen short cycling with a high % cause them to want to move.

Well I've had my little gig for just under 4 weeks. Hasn't deflated once. Since adding him, my clowns have decided all the anemones are their's, and I saw one of them feed the gig (so cool). They used to only hang out in the haddoni. Changing the flow for the gig caused several of the BTAs and the haddoni to move a bit.

Just curious how the experts think he looks =)

Looks good. With time he should take on a more "shaggy" appearance.

Thanks for the kind words guys. =)
I've wanted a gig since I first saw a healthy one on here (probably Minh's). So happy to have gotten my hands on such a beautiful animal.

Nice nems, and that gig looks quite good 4 weeks in - I would have had a hard time passing on that mag though... ;)

Four month update. Looks great and has grown considerably.

And a couple pics of my other nems in the same tank.
