My first shots

Nice pics. Great job with post processing too. Rich colors but not overdone. One suggestion for improvement is some pics show a static fish. The same pic of the fish doing something will make it more interesting. Also try zooming out a bit for a different perspective. Like a fish in its micro environment. Keep shooting.

Should I go for a slightly slower shutter speed and get fin movement?

Thanks for the compliments/suggestion! :)

How do you black out the background? 2 stage flash or RC flash? I myself am brand new to the hobby, if anyone would be interested in helping me out with the post I just made about macro lens.

The back of my tank is blacked out. Those corals just happened to be up top.

I've seen some effective fish shots with RC flash either using it straight down into tank or lighting a strip using flash and a length of rain gutter.

Wait till the fish swims into the lit area.

Nice shots, what lights are you using on the tank? Beautiful tank also..

Here's a few edits of that Mandarin, hope you don't mind..

I actually liked the original also.

Rule of 1/3rds is always good to remember, whilst shots with the fish smack in the middle are also nice, your Clown fish on the Anemone shot is excellent.
