My Five Gallon Bucket

Tonight I stopped into ABC Aquarium for the Ecoxotic LED Arm and left with a nice little tank too. I have removed my filter and I'm only running a Koralia Nano 425 for water movement. I do have a couple concerns though. Will the cloudiness go away without a filter? Will I need some sort of surface agitation for oxigenating the water and propper gas exchange? I plan on doing weekly two gallon water changes if that info helps to answer my questions. Also, I'm thinking about hanging a bag of Purigen (or even straight carbon) behind the rocks. Here are a couple pictures.

I'm new to the forum and figured I would start here... I run carbon in a hob filter and a small piece of chaeto and have to add water daily with a weekly 1 gallon water change. This has proven to work well. I hope this helps!

Both of these "buckets" look great!
I don't usually get sucked into managerial duties on RC but an explanation here rob:
mag started his thread on his 5 gallon bucket. It's confusing, (not to mention impolite), to hijack someone else's thread. You weren't aware. You should have started your own thread after posting an introduction thread. No big deal and easily fixed.

Mike- just start another thread.

With any luck confusion can be avoided.

So I'm running same thing as your setup Mike. I think the clarity will improve..if it doesn't you could just hang a bag.

My Koralia Nano is angled up towards the water surface, which causes surface agitation, and shimmer from the LED arm.

Mike the tank looks cool. I would consider shifting the rock off center. This will allow more light into the tank. Having the rock so tall and centered under the light it blocks too much light. Running carbon is the reason i use small hang on back filters. But have also been keeping carbon behind and under rock stacks. The tank will clear up with no filter with filter it will happen faster.

okay.. coffee's on and I cued up my vinyl copy of "Why Can't we be Friends" on the record player.
We have some great suggestions here. Mike- did your tank clear up over night on it's own?

You guys with 5 gallon buckets... I'm kinda envious. I do 50 gallon water changes on my 220.
You could do a lot of water changes on a 5 with 50 gallons!

Fat Rob, no worries. Gary is a good Dad... I know that you were just showing the similarities between our two tank, but Gary's right, things could have become confusing fast.

Gary, when my 180g was up and running, my Nitrates got away from me so I was forced to 50g water changes bi-weekly for almost 3 months to get my trates under control. What a PITA!!! So, be jellous

Justin, the cloudiness did clear up over night. The powerhead is nice, but it's a real pain in the butt to angle properly. How on earth did you get it to point up (insert joke here)?

GM, thanks for the advice. I'm going to give that a try. I really like the look of the tall center stack though. I'm happy with the way it came out.
