When my compact fluorescent light over my fuge is shut off, it constantly flickers. Is there a way around this? Do I have to buy a lamp module? I would rather not because the light isn't dimmable anyway.
I assume that you are using an X10 control module to control the compact fluorescent light. Even when the X10 module is off there is a small amount of leakage current. After a few seconds/minutes the ballast charges enough to fire the bulbs for a split second. Here are some solutions to the problem:
- Plug an additional load in with the ballast (small fan, etc.)
- Use a DC4 or DC4HD.
- Disable local control as shown here: http://www.neptunesys.com/hardwareFAQ.htm#LOCALCONTROL. And to further reduce the leakage current you can also cut the lead on the diode (black cylindrical component w/ white band) in the lower left hand corner of the website photo.
