My Goniopora had a baby!!

Yes I'd like to hear more details of your success too, gnu. Like many reefers I'm hesitant to try gonis. Don't want to watch them suffer and die. If there's a way to increase the chance of success please can you share with us?

I know this thread is old, but i recently bought a pink goniopora at my lfs a few weeks ago. I was wondering if you had a picture of the baby before it popped off the mother colony. The reason i ask is because the colony i have has about 1-1/2 inch polyps and around its base(where it encrusts) there are about 6-8 tiny polyps about 1/8" long and much smaller around than the big ones so i was wondering if they were going to fall off like yours? Also what and how often do you feed yours?

The babies actually grew on the top of the coral. The goni I have is an aussie one if that helps anybody. What you might be seeing is your goni growing itself.

My tanks is not one of the cleaniest out there. Its had over .64 phos and 16-25 nitrates most of the time. I over feed and also do phyto. I do know that the alk is 10.0 and seems to love it. Hope this helps.

No it is not the cleanest indeed but Goniopora like turbid water as that is what they are accustomed to where they thrive ...

So after all those months since you first posted, how is it doing now if I may ask ?
