and placed him self in my rock work.. what the ????

sigh. should i try and move him or let him be? i think he moved because i have a little to much flow in the tank ( im toning it down in a few days. )

I would leave it alone and let it do its thing. Some haddonis apparently like being attached to rocks instead of being in the sand.

yeah but all i have now is my cell phone camera. that so so digi cam was a loaner and its gone already =(

sorry nothing but moon lights were on..

well what im doing to remedy ( i hope ) the situation. i belive the haddoni was moving because he wasnt comfy with all the flow in the tank ( modded 900 ) so in the mean time. i turned my power heads off my whole system right now is running just on the sump pump. ) 270 GPH and a small rotating power head ( 160 gph ) im trading my modded Mjs on monday for some unmodded ones and going to attempt to move the haddoni back into the sand when the flow isint 3000GPH +

Honestly Zestay, I think it has nthing to do with the flow. I think your tank is just to young. Its not established at all. You would be suprised what Haddonis are capable of handling flow wise. They do live in the ocean after all with the big waves that launch gushes of whirpools and strong current.

hrmm. whats with this established tank stuff. what has yet to establish. im really curious. not that im disagreing with your opinion. i just dont know what still needs to grow? random bacteria? does the tank need more fish poop? i dont see how aging water can be a benefical factor. when everyone does water changes to keep the water fresh. when ever theres a problem people suggest water changes..

maybe im wacko !!!

Really, you will understand when you have an established tank what it means. There are fluctuations that occur until we have all of the kinks worked out. And, yes, bacteria is important. You will notice algal blooms when the system is new. This is because when a tank is new you add fish/corals/critters that consume and produce, and your system isn't balanced to handle it yet. It takes time, be patient.

Carpets, and anemones in general, are delicate; they are composed almost entirely of water and so a system with fluctuating water conditions is a recipe for failure with an anemone. You are taking a gamble that your creature can survive the flaws of your system. Some make it, some don't. Unfortunately with anemones, they would otherwise live very long lives in the wild, where most aquarists will purchase and kill them in short order:(

Side note: I have no idea how old your system is I just wanted to respond to your question.

Long story short your small eco-system isn't at the peak yet. I've had a haddoni for about 4 weeks now and im having trouble with him moving but my tank has been up for 3 years. My anemone is only moving about 2 inch so its nothing crazy. He moves over to the rocks and doesn't like it and moves back to the center of the tank where he has stayed for 2 weeks, they have minds of there own and will freely move where they want, you can't place them let nature takes it course and see where it ends up.

have to 100% agree with semireef. ive been keeping my mouth pretty tight this whole time, but with such a beautiful nem.. i feel like your sentencing it to death and its been bugging me. if you know anyone with an older tank, id love to see you loan it to them for 6 months or so :(

Ok so i finally said what was on my mind. i dont mean to be rude or anything at all.. its just your hoodini is acting up pretty bad.

one of my first questions to you was your perameters. you couldent answer me, your lfs is still testing for u right? your alk was way off, your doesing chemicals you cant test for (iron and iodine) and its all a recipe for a melted anemone

I moved my tank from a 45 to a 90 over a month ago and i test my alk every single night because i still dont have the exact measurement i need to add every day. im off by a half mil or so.

these things are extreamely important. salinity is huge to, you need a refractometer if your going to have an anemone and keep it perfect at all times. your water changes need to match your tank water perfectly in temp, salinity calcium, and alk. and also needs to be aged.

these are the most important things i can come up with imo

Zestay, basically all of us are tying to say is that you bought an anemone way to quickly and your tank is no where near establishment. I remember I use to always dwell on the fact that corraline algae wouldn't grow very fast in my 55 gallon. Sometimes it would have nice growth spurts but then it would slow down and then it would even die. Now, I can't stop the growth of my corraline algae. I was dosing then and I am dosing now. Why didn't it grow fast back then too? Simply because my tank is about a year and 3 months old. My tank has established. My parms don't fluctuate as much as a new tank would per say. Not to mention, my anemones never move. The last time an anemone walked on me was when I had a blue Haddoni 6 months ago when my tank was under a year old. See where I am getting with this? Your tank is just to young to support the precious life of a Haddoni and a RED one at that. Honestly, I would sell it to someone locally that really knows how to care for these creatures and who also has an established tank. I am sorry to say this but you need to get rid of it. Step up to the plate.

now would you guys also reccomend against a GBTA? .. god i want something soft and cuddly in my tank so bad ..

it takes a big person to be sure the animal will live and let his own wants take the back burner.

give it a few months for a bta. get all your test kits, get your water stable, get yourself to understand what is stable and how to keep it that way, get good at your water changes and top off.. it took me LONGER than 6 months to understand alkalinity.

someone finally said to me.. yo, its like a perfect triangle, your calcium effects your alk, your alk effects your ph, when they are all perfect you have your triangle, but if 1 thing go's out of wack, they all do.

hrmm interesting way to look at things.
the triangle. thing. only thing. havent got much response on a local buyer . can take him back to the LFS but only get half credit =(.....

give it time. any friends that reef? do you have a local reef club? Its REAL handy joining one either way, but id try that, even pay em to keep it for awhile
