Hi Iwan,

Have you ever tried the new generation of ATI AquaBlue special and Blue plus bulbs? As I know, the former manufacturer Narva is no longer supplying T5 bulbs to ATI. And ATI is finding a new lighting manufacturer to produce their bulbs. Just wonder how is the quality of these new bulbs? I know some German aquarists are working on the evaluation report and will publish shortly.

The new generation of the ATI bulbs is very good. Your information about Narva is correct. The new bulbs seem brighter for me.
Unfortunately, I don't have any dedicated reports which also confirm this.

Didn't you basically start using both of these (prodi & Zeo) in the past couple of months?

If I remember correctly, you started with the Prodi and shortly thereafter started the zeo. I'm just wondering if you're results are more a result of the Prodibio, the Zeo, or both? Theoretically it could take 6 to 8 months alone just to realize the full benefits of the Prodibio bacteria and amino acids.

I'm considering it.

Prodi digest - bacteria 5 weeks ago and Zeo CV, PIF 2 weeks ago.

These have different mechanisms and outcomes - Prodi Digest or ZEo basic 4 - to reduce NO3/PO4 to 0, and Zeo CV and PIF as food and trace element supplementation respectively. Both can result in increased coloration - but user report are very positive for both - with no risks - so why wait? I gotta get my reef like Iwans by Friday lunch time. :)

I'm not sure if I can expect any further effects from Prodi other than ataining extreemly low N and P and as a consequence a lightening of zoalanthe - certainly the Stylo Hysterix colonies are pinking up all the time. PIF has replace the Kent I2 I was dosing for the rics and other mushrooms, and I figured it important to feed the corals CV as less energy would be avialable from the symbiotic algae. As it is the zoalanthe cant keep up with the calcium growth. THis did not occure prior to Prodi and then CV

Anyway - I'm v please to see the results both in terms of the clinical parameters and visual observation - and it may just keep getting better.....?!

Hi Iwan

More advice if you dont mind please:)

I have just recieved Zeostart 2 - how much do you dose per 100l?

My NO3 and PO4 are 0 already thanks to Prodibio, but I notice you dose ZS2 daily.

Many thanks for your help again

Simon

I dose Zeostart2 1 ml on 100 l of water daily.
The product supports the bacterium populations in the growth.

But from my source (a German online store), the quality of new ATI bulbs is not as good as those produced by Narva. ATI was kicked out by Narva because ATI is not paying the bill, and also ATI is not welcomed by most of German aquarium stores. I don't know whether these are authentic but I would like to know more quantitative report from third parties and end users.

First of all, you tank is INCREDIBLE!, Truly stunning.

I would like to know if you have ever had issues with "red bugs" on you sps. I dont know if it an issue there as it is here in the US. Either way, I would like to know what your opinion is on them.

For those that use the Prodibio products, does the bacteria have to be stored in the refrigerator? Is it shipped overnight or via regular ground shipping?

Prodibio cultures are stored in sealed glass vials without oxygen so they dont need to be kept in the fridge.

I'm into my 5/6th week with this and the nutrient levels are so low now that the chateo in the refugium are dying off presumably beacuse they do not have enought n03 or po4 to survive. I'll have to turn it into a LR refugium:).

I'v also started using some of the Zeo aditives Iwan is using, one at a time CV to begin with, and these also seem to be having a great effect on color PE and growth.

I'm really pleased I took the 'gamble' to follow Iwan's approach, as it has become fun to spot frags with the hint of genetic colour and watch it brighten up.

And the prices really aren't that bad either. But I wonder what the shipping costs to the US would end up running.

To find out shipping to US: Register - select what you want, and follow through to the shipping section which will tell you the costs - you can always pull back from that point

I broke down and placed an order for some Prodibio. Iwan and TryTheChi got me suckered into believing this stuff works, and it really isn't too expensive for snake oil. I ordered a 30 pack of Bioptim, a 30 pack of BioDigest, and two 30 packs of ReefBooster. The total with shipping came to 97 Euros (about $125 US). This quantity should last me for over a year.

I will try it out and let everyone know how well it is working on my system. My system is only 3 months old, and only has about 15 or so frags. I currently have a hairy crab I need to remove before I add any more frags. I don't want to hijack Iwan's thread any longer, but I will post updates on my thread regarding the Prodibio snake oil when they're available over in the SPS forum.

I don't want to be the only sucker here, so feel free to join me in the Prodibio challenge!
