Wow! This has been a long journey...It all started with my police partner over 7 years ago talking about going to a saltwater fish store....well we thought it would be a good idea to buy tanks.....That's all she wrote!
Bought my 70 corner 6 years ago...about 2 1/2 years ago i started planning my indoor ocean...my 150 gallon.
I fell in love with Tonga Branch and have been collecting it ever since...Most the rock in the tank is Tonga....i love this stuff.... I have been collecting fish and coral and rock for some time for this project....
Lighting:
2-250w Luman Max 2 reflectors.........Sunlight supply
6- Power Brights for Blue lighting
Filtration:
1500 GPH Glass-Holes Box
Basement sump.....150 gallon rubbermaid tub
Live Rock
Cheato chamber
carbon
ASM G4
Pumps:
Return pump.......HY-Drive 3200
Sea Swirl pump...Mag 18
So, the switchover began at 8:00 am Friday morning by taking down the 70 gallon....placing rock, corals and fish in 4 tubs with heat and circulation...
The stand was delivered about noon....I was so impressed with the craftsmanship of this unit....more than expected.....
let the plumbing begin....Hole in the floor, flex pvc (great stuff)1.5" and 3/4"
after so much tinkering around...i started on the rock work....with sand and no water....several hours later (one piece in, turn turn and turn again, one piece out) i had an aquascape....so i started filling tank and began to acclimate the fish and coral (2 hours)...about 2am I hit the pillow.
Saturday morning i get up and looked at set up...not fully satisfied with aquascape....so i spend the next several hours re-doing the scape...
I guess i had too much nice rock to choose from....
I ended up with a simple....less rock....scape....."less Is More"
I really love it.....I have always used a lot of rock....so I really like the openness of the tank...so do the fish!..they think there in the ocean, compared to the corner tank.
So, end of the story is bed midnight Sat. ALL DONE!
Now it is just the touch ups, here and there.....tweaking that and tweaking this...
Here are some pics!!
