My little Babies

Thanks everyone!

jasonrp104- I am using the Arag-Alive Indo-Pacific Black Live Sand. I have used it in four different systems and I really like it. It buffers just as well as regular white sand, but it does not turn Green and show every little poo......

Lovely fish, and a great display for them. I think they actually show better against the complementary colors of the LR and substrate better than they would in a conventional reef tank. Only thing I would change is to add a background so that the equipment and paneled walls in back of the tank don't show through. ;)

Yurvid- Yes I still have the Candy Basslet. For this tank I am only going to keep these two fish. I have decided to do something special with this tank and I want the Bandits to be the stars.

velvetelvis- Thanks, I have considered getting a black background, and still may, but putting it on with be a PITA.

I have kept this pair of fish with several different types of corals, including euphyllias, zoanthus, protopalythoa, tubeastrea and a few other random corals. Also, the tank is currently full of mussels, sponges and tunicates. I have never seen these fish pick at any corals or inverts. When you consider that these fish eat primarily sponges in the wild, it is shocking that they are passing up sponge in captivity. That said, I feed many times per day, so the fish may just simply be too full to pick ;).

Velvetelvis- thanks for bringing up the background............ You have now given me a complex and I can't stop thinking about how ugly the paneling is, gah ;).

I have a question, how far do Bandit angels typically rise when spawning? I know that the 20" I have is not deep enough as the fish will almost rise entirely out of the water.
I'm not sure of this Michael for Bandits, but I can tell you that I have a pair of C. loriculus spawning in an aquariujm that's only 12" high! I couldn't believe it and thought my eyes were tricking me, but not the case. I've caught them in the act four or five times now in the past couple weeks. While talking with another reefer buddy he had a great analogy, "Is 12" preferred I am sure not, but in a pinch even a back seat will make due" ;)
