my favorite piece:

as i go along, i try to input some information about the corals from books or net.
should i input wrong information, kindly correct me.

plate montipora
quite hardy. like some light and strong flow. not aggressive nor defensive thus care must be taken to place safe distance from other corals.

another plate monti.
this specimen i realise that it doesnt need strong light as the top part start to fade when its under my 30w led. i have since shifted it to the side away from the 30w led

is this a porites nigrescens?
require high current but they are very tolerant of light conditions but strong lights is usually better.

porites finger coral
strong light strong flow
the bottom part was covered with algae. just scrape off and hope they dont regrow back to the same area.

You got some unique specimens, especially that red nem. Everything looks great, my only suggestion is to get rid of those green start polyps before they take the tank over. Then your rock really will look like that Bonsai tree.

thanks.
the star polyps is there for the time being till i have more sps to add :)
initial plan was to leave them at the bottom so it will create a "green field"
look....but instead decided to have a clean bottom with lots of current to blow up the debris.

Automated systems

Automated systems

Hi,

I would like to get some view on the following:
I was having a discussion with a fellow reefer.
We was wondering if we can use dosing pump to do water change.
For example if we intend to do 10% water change of a 400Litr tank once every 2 weeks. That will be 40litres. Per week will be 20 litres. Per day will be 2.85litres.
So what we do is program dosing pump to draw 24 times a day 0.11 litres every hour and top up same amount 5 min after drawing using different channels. Of cause will have 3rd channel dosing DI water for top up.
Any views on this? Would like to make my system as automated as possible.

2) Secondly to make things more complicated and advance, if the above method is feasible, I would like to combne my water top up and Water Change all into a tub. Anyone wwould know any formula to calculate the Salinity? For Example my top up is 1 litre every day. So I will draw 2.85litres out every day and replace it with 3.85 litres of water including top up from a single source. How should i factor in the salinity at which level since 1 litre of water evaporation doesnt take away the Salinity. Wanted this so I can free up one more channel for other dosing as well as more importantly, I wont want too many tubs of Water.

Hope to hear from you guys.
