My Macro Lagoon

Wow, what a collection! And you seem to know your names too. I have a macro I am not sure what it is. I'll have to find the pic I took and PM it to you.

Nice! That's gonna look good when it grows in!

Thanks! I definitely like nerding out about names - it's a challenge, and quite honestly way above my head too. IIRC there are something like 45000 species of reds (maybe it was specifically Gracilaria?) and you need a microscope to even get close sometimes! Shoot me a pic (or post up a thread here for the people smarter than me!)

Got a new lens (Tamron 18-200) today, hoping this can be my 'one and only' for travel and general use. I really hate switching lenses.

All taken with the new lens, some from the comfort of my couch! :D

We added the perfect leopard wrasse last week. I know it's a major gamble, but she surprisingly didn't hide the first day, and has been active and social nonstop since then. Hunting regularly and eats mysis/minimysis/cyclops so far. I've been feeding about three cubes of cyclops a week to try to keep her and my mandarin happy together, especially with my recent podpocalypse. Gonna add a new culture of pods this weekend.

This guy never comes out!

The Portieria has gotten a lot redder since it arrived, loving it. The gorg, on the other hand...

The Palm Caulerpa (C. Paspaloides) has acclimated and taken off nicely. I thought it was gonna be a goner for a while.

And the world's stupidest RBTA continues to hold the title.

I have high hopes, despite the (relatively low!) $200 pricetag. My primary lens has been the 35 prime, and it's been wonderful but just doesn't get the shot sometimes. I tried a Sigma 70-300 but I wasn't very happy with it (and really didn't know what I wanted). So far I'm loving the range of the 18-200!

Got some new stuff on the way so will be rescaping a bit sometime this week. *Until then, a shot I really like:

Sure let mine grow in then I can sell you some back. It's still super tiny not fraggable yet

Thanks. I'll pay the same price you paid me of course!

beautiful tank Andrew
may I ask where you sourced your original nemastoma macro algae?....
I have been looking for this ever since I lost my tiny frag during our house move last year :sad2:

A little change to the scape, moved the Cladophora over to a lower light area and opened up the middle. Don't mind the dirty doors, that's what happens when you rebuild carburetors when you're reefing! :D

The Red Branch (Scinaia huismanii or Ahnfeltiopsis?) is finally hitting its growth spurt!

Hypnea Pannosa. Also have Blue Octhodes in my sump (lights off right now) - the Octhodes is bluer (even grown without blue lighting) and is a bit thicker in structure. They are extremely similar though.
