My Marineland 250 Gallon Built Thread

Well I started my DYI stand, i used the template i got from the dyi section by
RocketEngineer, which is great. I ordered my tank about 2 weeks ago and will pick it up this friday. My tank is the 250 Gal Marineland DD, 60X36X27. The stand that was started today is 75x36x33. The stand will give me room inside for equipment such as my Reeflo Dart, and my Geo 618 Calcium Reactor.I will be tearing down a 150 gal system and transferring only my Sps coral and some limited fish.

I was able in the planning stages to purchased a 48 inch S. Stealth 12x54 watt light fixture. I'm transferring my I-Tech protein skimmer and i have a new custom sump being built and should be ready this week, it measures
42x16x16.

I have posted photo of my stand that was started today. I will finish skinning it in the next couple days and adding the 2 front doors and a side panel where
the external pump will be station for easy access. BTW that's my next door neighbor in the photo who built the home i'm living in, it really help to have someone like this to oversee this project.

That is one beefy stand, I love it. I always say if your going to build, over build. I will actually be starting a thread soon of my marineland dd 36x36x27 150gal

Is the stand 15" longer than the tank?

yes i needed the room inside for the external pump plus it gives me a room on top for items.

Looks like youre off to a good start. I agree that the stand looks very strong. Thats definitely a plus to have a neighbor with those skills.

i'm going to place a 3/4 plywood sheet for a tabletop and 1/2 birch for the front and sides

I knew it was a vette, i owned a 99 for about 2 weeks, fixed it up and sold it for a profit. I like those a lot but im still a cobra man myself. Are you picking up the tank from reef plus? post pics when you get it home.

I have a custom built stand in my Florida garage that was built for the Marineland 250.. but I never actually went through with the tank since I decided to do a wall unit instead with a much longer tank. I will post pictures of it after the holidays if anyone would like to see
