My Nanocube

Wow your not kidding about that acan colony, it looks awesome.
Thanks man! I just upgraded my lighting a couple days ago, so check these pictures out.

July 18 2010 Update
Been busy with work and prepping for school and other things. However the tank is still in commission and doing better than ever. It seems like the less often I do WC's the better everything seems. Really it seems as if the tank is now very stable and taking care of itself, minus feeding and cleaning the glass. Corals are growing like weeds. I just added a Sunpod thanks to a member of the club and my tank looks great. I took some updated pictures so ya'll can compare and see new growth. I may even venture to SPS a little now. We shall see.

Not the best pictures, the light is so bright. However you can see a MAJOR difference in person.

Very doable

Very doable

Thanks man. Tanks a little over 5 months. I think it's doable.

I added SPS to a 3 day old tank and added much more at 7 day's and never lost a piece. If your parameters are OK Then Go for It... JMO

Yeah bill you been doing this for over 20yrs. Expert :)

Looking good fishtail. Do you test your new water when doing a WC. It's good with a small tank keep both param the same.

I haven't lately. I was buying premixed RO from F&F and now AC. Other than salinity and making sure my temp is close. I'll dose suppliments and thats about it. I was at the point where I tested the CA and other necessary levels and they were on point. This was when I was doing weekly WC's. Now I'm down changing to every two weeks. No stress on the corals, inverts, or fish from what I see.

I love AC. But when I stop use therer water my tank started to take off. I don't know if they just didn't change out the filter when we should or what. Just My thought

Not sure yet. I only used 2 batches of it. Couldn't notice a noticable change. However I did notice a small increase in cyano. Never thought about it. It's subsided. Could also be due to my media needing changed. I also need to invest in a RO unit I suppose as I won't convince myself to mix my water with tap water.

FYI on the critter water... I used it a many times in between RO/DI units. Every time I tested their water with a TDS meter it tested zero and I never saw issues... only problem I really had was the pain of getting water every week.

Thanks. I do agree it's a pain going weekly to the LFS just for water.

July 20 Update

Soooooo, a whole 2 days later I'm posting a update. I met up with Zef yesterday to get some coral from him. First like to say he's a awesome guy. All the folks I've met from the club have been welcoming and nice. I picked up a mushroom rock, cabbage leather and he even threw in some zoas! I managed to leave AC without spending anything, even left with a few bucks credit thanks to a frag I traded. :bounce2: However, when I got home all chaos began to occur. I'm very particular about the aquascape and due to the fact the shrooms were on a larger rock I had nowhere, I mean nowhere they'd fit without having to move something else. Safe to say even after numerous, and I do mean numerous tries I still was stuck. I went ahead and basically rescaped the entire tank. I wasn't too happy with the results, but the corals were positioned. I had to give it a day to see the outcome since the lights were off. So numerous back aches and anger the results are shown.

This is the mushroom rock zef hooked me up with. I really wanted it for the blue frillies, but all of em look great.

Couldn't get a good picture of the zoas or cabbage, but the zoas have nice blue skirts with brownish centers under the 20K. And I also LOVE this aquascape wayyyy more than the previous. I can surely see SPS in the near future. :lolspin:

The camera sucks or the light is too bright, you can barely tell out the blueness in the blue shrooms. And the greens have a neon green glow

Also anyone know of issues with Acans or other LPS being too close to softies? I've read leathers can be bad, but what about xenia and GSP or the mushrooms?

August 6 Update

Figure I'd do an update. It's been a few weeks since I posted anything anyway. As usual, there are new additions. I added a couple of Perculas from AC about 2 weeks ago and once placed in the tank immediately took to one another. The female, or soon to be is clearly the bigger of the 2. No aggression so far. She even hosts the Xenia at night, but won't go near it in the daytime. The male has yet to venture there. They're pretty much together all day long.

I also added some new frags to my tank and have some nice growth on all coral. I meet up with Shane this past Wednesday and got some nice frags from him; a Green Toadstool, nice acan, which he said was about 7 heads, I counted around 12. Its doing well in the sand next to my other acan colony with is also doing well. I plan to do a acan garden on the sandbed. Also got a freebie-birdsnet, also my first SPS. Polyps extended immediately. It's placed in the top section but is shaded by the Xenia colony since I read they're a lower light SPS. Don't want to bleach it. Nice green tips. Hopefully this will color up under the 20K. I believe that's all for now. I won't post any pictures till I find the time to take some nicer photos. Just thought I'd give a update and also keep a log on how things are going.
