Is the tank going to have a hood? Awesome setup so far. Trying to figure out howcome my TruFlow doesn't have a sock spot on it...everyone else has socks.

Sweet Set up!! I love all the DIY stuff. It's going to take some time keeping 2 filter socks clean. How often are you planning on cleaning them out?

keeping two socks clean isnt that bad. when i had my 125 it had dual socks. i have like six socks and the way the holder is they pop out real easy. then when your down to your last two just throw them in the washing machine with cold water.

Are you planning on hinging the front and the top? Or , just making them removable like the stand?

I have to make a canopy (my hawkfish chases other right out of the water), and am debating on how to provide access to the tank. I think it would be a pain to have to take the whole canopy off for maintenance.....so I am thinking of having a design sorta like this:

Another option I just thought of was making the hinged portion above removable, like we talked about earlier with the stand.

Any thoughts?

On mine, I have a hinge that is a slide hinge, which the end tightens for harder hinging and loosens for looser hinging. I think it's a prop slide hinge. It is on one side and when the tank goes up, it sticks, and you can tighten or loosen it and then when you're done you just let it go or slide it down harder. It works wonders for that type of setup, as that is what I have on my Tru Vue 75. The top hood lifts up like a trap-door.

so i got the sump all done.the front panels are done and most of the trim is done.then all i will need to do is finish the canopy and stain it all then it is on to the pluming.

Wood shop? I was too busy making wooden swords, and shields and starting battles out in the football field at lunch time <we had about 30 people get two day suspensions that day it was great>
I don't think I ever built anything else but maybe a shelf in wood shop....guess I should have listened!

well i got the stand done and is waiting to be stained.the canopy is almost ready for stain i need to cut and put the trim on and finish the door.
