I still do not understand what he is talking about. If power goes out the water in the tank will drain back down to the sump till the syphon breaks. My return lines are located at the top of the tank so the most the water level will go down is to the teeth on the overflow.
That white pump will be your return pump correct? Then I think you will be fine if you adjust your water level (in the sump) so when the power shuts off the sump can handle it.
Not yet....The plan is to get it down to the basement tomorrow. Then the following weekend is the GO LIVE date......Finish the plumbing and transfer everything over.
I would watch on the transfer. Many people lose live stock there.I don't know if you will keep your old sand.If you do keep the top inch and chuck the rest or wash it out. That or heavy skim because you are going to get detritus everywhere.I don't remember if your other tank is BB.
A couple people I have asked about the transfer just told me to make sure I put my new sand down first and my existing on top. THey said I may get a small cycle but should not hurt any of the fish. I will keep my fingers crossed.
Thank You for all the compliments.....I have the IceCap lighting all wired in my canopy. I have to get some ties to make it look pretty.....So I did not take any pictures yet.
THanks bbehring...The sump does have a refugium section. THe skimmer I am using now and love will be moving over to the 300. I am currently using a Lifereef VS3-48. It is rated for 500 gallons. You can purchase an extension to make the skimmer larger and upgrade the pump. Sooner or later I will probably do that. I like to over skim. I really feed my fish more than I should. BILL
Everything is looking great RBU1! I am looking forward to seeing this thing plumbed up and full of water. Best wishes for a safe move to the basement!
I think ricks was confused by the 7th picture down. It looks like the CL is plumbed to the sump in that shot.
Sorry I mhave been busy and now my photobucket account say's I used up all my bandwidth.....So I have to wait to post pictures. After a LONG Saturday the tank is up and running. So far no casualities.....As soon as I can post pictures I will.
