Thanks guys! My girlfriend demanded it be "pyramid" shaped and walah!

Randy, i L O V E the scrubber, after a week its already got a nice amount of diatoms algae and cyano bacteria on it, with NOTHING to show for it in my tank! only downside that i can figure is more sound and it really makes underneath my stand really humid.

Man, I never even considered the humidity aspect. My house is already way too humid...I wonder if I could engineer a way to contain it.

Nice! I have the same cube and I'm about to drill a hole for the return. What size return hole and the PVC pipe size are u using?

i decided to not go the drilled route mostly because of limited funding

however i did use 1" thin wall pvc for the extra flow on the return if that helps.

Oic. Ur return is just a u tube? How big is ur return pump?

yeah its 2 90 degree elbows with one being threaded to slip in a loc line adapter. my return was a rio 2500, because thats what i had to work with, a little strong. thus the use of a T to the ATS to divert the strong flow vs having the ats on the drain.

if your not gonna T it, i'd recommend a mag 5 or a rio 1400 just because these are the two pumps ive used in the past. and theyd give you about 300 gph each at 4' head loss, just about the 10x turnover rate.

I think he means a progress build. I haven't made any thread for mine but I've taken a lot of pictures. I'm still working on the aquascape right now.

i wish i took more pictures on the assembly of my pretty frugal build... but i do have some

the evolution on how my 25 dollar sump came to be can be found here.

I also just installed a diy moonlight kit i bought a few years back but never used. the lights that came with the tank had none. its one of those that you can drill into your canopy. but since i have an open top i siliconed it to my light.

i love how much money i saved, i got this off craigslist with the tank, 60lbs LR, Sand, some critters, a stand not pictured(i sold it), aqua c remora, a t5 light fixture, some maxijet pumps, additives and scrapers, and a 1/15th hp chiller for $400. i finished off the rest of the build for maybe less than 250 more.

i will post more pics later, as i am studying for finals and i come here when i get overloaded. my next buy is a good question, i transferred everything from my jbj to this tank with a stock of.
- 1 peppermint shrimp
- 1 cleaner shrimp
- 1 emerald crab
- various snails and crabs
- false percula
- green chromis
- yellow goby
- some ric's shrooms,xenias and zoa's
- feather duster

i am going to get some monti frags from my other tank in downey, and possibly a hammer frag. i also have been really looking into getting an angel as ive always wanted one..

edit: almost forgot! i just ordered 4 new bulbs for my tank, imma try the ati blue plus, purple plus and aqua blue special? i think there called, hopefully it will make the colors pop and do far more than 10 and actinics.. (plus idk how old these bulbs are)

You will like that bulb combo... i like it more blue as well. What kind of angel? centropyge? Most if not all are 50/50 with corals.

i was thinking a flame angel.. i hear theyre more on the safe side, but it does kind of scare me.. i want a really colorful reefsafe fish, but usually 30g is too small for the good ones lol

A wrasse or two would be fine. I wouldn't risk it but that is up to you. Many have had them long term with no problems.
