My new 400 G tank

Sweet looking. And the bikes not bad either. 
I did 21 years, mostly on the west coast down in San Dog. Was a twidget myself. started as a brown shoe though until they got rid of my rate in '85. Was a TD then crossed over to FTM which became FC.
I'm still trying to pour my self leveling concrete to get teh floor level. I should have it all done by this wekend and can start to lay in the antique Cheery laminate flooring. I finished making my door thresholds and got one installed. I've got to rip out teh carpet in our bedroom before I install that one.
In my spare time, I've wound up swapping in two Hammerhead pumps on the tank, one on the C/L w/ canister filter and the second as my sump return. I cut my power usage in half but still have some good flow.
I also picked up a baraccuda pump as well that I'm going to use on another C/L when I tear the tank down for the move. I used an old skimmer I had sitting around and built a Calc reactor for the tank. I'll get some pic's posted up soon. It was a old seaclear CC skimmer that I picked up for 10 bucks when the local petco redid their systems. It is 4" dia and 4' tall. I'm using a Iwakia as a recir pump. The whole thing, not counting the co2 setup, cost me like 60 bucks. I jsut ordered some media for it for another 20 so a complete cost w/ the co2 is about 150 bucks total. Not to shabby.
As far as the tank goes, everyone is still happy. I've added in a few more inhabitants; 2 clams, 2 copperbanded butterflies, who haven't touched a single apstia yet, two pink square back anthias, 4 sunburst anthias and a blue spotted gobey aling with a bunch moer snails, 2 urchins, 2 lettuce nudi's and 2 abalone's.
it looks like I did lose one of my royal grammas, my red filimant flasher wrasse and my mulit collered wrasse along with 2 of the sunburst anthias. I haven't seen them in a while so I'm assuming the disappeared in the rocks somewhere and died.
My male naso's streammers are getting longer and look really cool. My wantanabie angle is out more and now as the swallow tail as it grew back. he is hanging out with my pacific blue tang as they have become buddies. I'm trying to find a female for him now.
Well I'll update with pic's when I can. Got to get back to pouring this week. I pick up another 10 bags tonight and then got to take the Mrs. out to pick out her paint for the walls. The new steps should be done soon. That's the only part so far that I farmed out.. Then it will be get the permits signed off and start on the tank teardown and rebuilding.

The toadstool actually got measured the other day, 15" across. And yes, the valmingi tang IS that big, about 13" head to tail.

I've got the floor done and installed the antique cherry flooring. Painted the room a honey yellow. Picked up my steps and am working on putting on a finish on them. Wife picke dout some furniture for the room that will be here in a few weeks.
I've built me a calicum reacto for the tank and have it up and running with a little bit of media I had left in my old reactor. New media should be here next week.
I now have a green carpet haddoni Anemone and a RBTA in the tank. Three of the sunburst have disapperared along with the blue spot who died. The CBB's haven't touched a single apstia that I've seen. The urchins are going to town on the alage though. I alos added a lepoard wrasse and a franklin wrasse.
I got another tank and so moved my frags from the sump to the new tank. Now theres only a bit of LR in the sump along with a peppermint shrimp who traveled down from the main tank thru the overflows.
I'm hoping to start the tank move by the end of next month. I'm borrowing back my old 190 I sold to a friend to use as a holding tank while I resistuate everything. Hang on everyone, we'll get there.

My home made calicum reactor. It is 4" diat and 4' tall. I'm using a Iwakia 30 for a recirc pump. On the PVC line that is the return to the pump, CO2 goes into the top blue valve and input water to the bottom one. Output water is from the blue valve on the main body. The blue valve on the very top is to bleed of air or take a sample. It also has a drain valve on it.

Don't know yet. I'm still waiting for my order to come in but I ordered three units from Aquatic eco at 2.2 lbs per unit. I hope that's enough for it. It should be here later this week.
OK filled up the reactor with 9 lbs of meida. It only filled up half way. But I think that should be enough for now. I still had to throttle back on the recirc pump a little as it was moving the media around at W.O.T. So far so good.
I've got to mount the stairs this weekend, clean out teh laundry room area and install a little drywall. Then I can get it inspected and the permits signed off.
That's when the fun starts. Build a 1 foot extension for the stand, cut a new hole in the wall, and drain/move the tank in place. I won't be draining the tank though til late April.

mermaid is doing fine. I just haven't gotten her into the room yet as she's waiting for her furniture and the tank to go in. Soon.

OK here's an overdue update on things. 
The room is finished and the furniture is in. Yea!

view looking from the other end. The unfinished area is where the 400G tank will be built in. The two sets of windows next to the wall will be replaced with removable panels so that I can get to the back of the tank when need be.
And the tank, still in the garage.
I now have a 190G tank W/ a 60G sump set up as a holding tank. It's full of NSW and finally got the temp up to 76 last night. I started moving some of my LR from the main tank into the sump of the holding tank. Hopefully tonight I'll be siphoning off some of the sand bed to move into the holding tank.
I know I can't put it all in there but I want at least 2" in the tank so I can keep my sand alive somewhat. I'm going to have to keep some of the sand and some LR in trashcans for a while. I'll put powerheads in there and hope for the best.
AS for equipment updates, I picked up a OM 4 way which will be going on my return. I'm going to replace the drum with one that opens one port at a time. I'll have one port in eact corner of the top of the tank. That way i can set it up for a cross tank reversing flow. I'm also going to be putting eductors on my C/L to help increase the flow.
I have a design now for the cabinet to cover the tank but that will be a while before I get to that point. The main part now is to transfer the LR and live stock into the holding tank and start tearing down the setup. More to come later.

Yep, two sets of windows will be removed. The tank will center on that wall with the skimmer sitting to the right of the tank. There will be a cabinet to hide the skimmer. You will be able to see the tank from the front as well as the left side. I'll have almost 12" behind the tank. The removable panels will make it that much easier to work on the tank from the back if need be.
