 Cool set-up. Love the stand. Which tunze are you getting? I think I'm gonna wait for a pair of the new contollable nanostreams for my 58. Also considering a 6000 and a single controller. Cheaper and wont have to wait till Dec.

where di you get your live rock? I am in the process of setting up my 58 gallon, and need about 60 pounds as well.

Kevin

Thanks. Was thinking about getting just a 6000 on a single controller.

I got my live rock from a LFS, OceanBlue in Winter Park, FL.

Very interested in hearing how this works out as I may do this also. The only thing holding me back is concerns about flow coverage with one vs two sources of flow.

The 58g is a nice-sized tank. It looks like you have it nicely aquascaped and are well on your way!

Derek

P.S. Nice-looking frag in your avatar :)

I had a 6000 and a MJ1200 modded and I just got another 6000 and I already had the multi and it was the best move I made.
bad pic but you don't even notice the tunzes or the sea swirl.

You'll love the tank size. 2x250 is borderline overkill too, theres nothing you can't keep. (I run a 58 with 2x250). I'd run more than the single 6000 though. I'm running a 6060, a maximod, and a pair of Seio820s right now, but I <3 flow.

Keep an eye on the topoff. I go through 5 gallons in about 3 days.

I actually have very little evaporation. So far in over two weeks, I haven't gone through 5 gallons. My sump has a cover on it with a hole for the skimmer and a hole for cords and my return plumbing line.

My tank temp is at 80.3 and that is the hottest it gets without any fans anywhere. I actually had to put a heater on the tank because at night the temp would drop to 77. I set the heater at 79 to keep it constant. My house is set at 77 during the night and 80.5 during the day. But my tank is downstairs and my downstairs is about 3' below ground so it stays cooler than the rest of the house. My thermostat is upstairs and it is generally warmer upstairs so I am sure the downstairs is probably more like 75-78 but either way, not much for heat transfer to the tank.

Thanks,
Mike

Well there are. No fish still but I did add an acro colony and a montipora digitata colony. I need to add a fish like a small tang or something to help clean up a little bit of stuff that is starting to grow on the rocks. I also need to get a better strip and some timers as right now I have to turn on my lights manually and that is getting old...plus I think the 250's are just too much. It is soo dang bright...everything looks WHITE...its funny, its like everything is blown out, sort of like what happens on cameras.

You could always go with 14K bulbs if you don't like the look of the 10's. They would give you a more subdued look than the 10K's, and less par. I have heard wonderful reports about the Phoenix 14K bulbs, but they should be replaced every 9 months I think.

Yeah, still trying to decide what to do. I have considered switching them to Pheonix bulbs...just want to decide what to do before I make the switch.

Very nice tank! I'm thinking of getting a 58g Oceanic as well. How much total flow can go through the megaflow? I think somewhere I read 600gph, but your QO 5000 should put out a little more than that.

My overflow is nowhere near max!!! I can take a picture of the teeth if you would like but I assume you could easily push a few hundred more gph through it.
