My New AGE tank build! It's big! ~1500g DT

Thanks Ziggy953 and Steelmastiff!

NaClH20NMYVEIN, I am curious about the par numbers too. Unfortunately I disassembled my fish room and put everything in boxes in the garage, so I don't know where my par meter is right now! I will get that done once I get the fish room finished and put everything back.

Got some work done yesterday, drilling some 40g breeders for a RDSB and for a QT tank. The plan for the remote sand bed is to basically run water from the 120 sump to the top breeder and have it drain into the bottom breeder and then back to the 120 sump.

For the QT tank, the plan is to have the disposal water from the genesis drain into the QT tank and then the QT tank drain into the sink.

Also started a platform to stand on for the back of the tank. Today I hope to get the platform finished and the stand for the RDSB and the QT tank so the sink can be reinstalled in the fish room.

I think I bought enough steel!

and finally, installed two lights the other day, which makes a neat look at night from the end of the tank. It's like the tank goes on forever and its end is lost in the darkness.

Really loving the aquascape! Looking forward to seeing how you setup the DSB. I need some ideas.

thanks! I think the aquascaping is too low on the right side, but I'm hoping coral growth will make it higher.

Here's the DSB. It's two 40g breeders from petco drilled. The water loops in and out of the 120g sump.

Tank is looking great man. Love the aquascape as well. I really like foam walls. Keep us informed on how the 2 skimmer system works for you buddy

thanks!

will do when I get the other tank broken down and put both skimmers on the new tank. Probably won't happen for a couple of weeks or so.

Doing some insulation around the tank today to try to make the tank as quiet as possible. Even with flexible tubing, sponges under the pumps, and having them submerged, there's still a lot of vibration noise from the sicce 16's making its way into the next room. I'm using the foam you put on a mattress to make it softer to try to dampen the sound.

This is the under tank rock sump. I think it's around 500g if it were full of water. It's full rim to rim with rock for filtration with one bubble wall baffle in the middle. You can also see the closed loop plumbing. My plumbing isn't pretty but it seems to not leak. :)

Here's another shot of the insulation below the viewing wall

I would be concerned about that foam absorbing moisture over time and becoming moldy.

It's possible, although I have run the same foam in my existing tank for the last 5 years with no mold evident so I'm currently not too worried about it.

I want to suggest a proactive comment;

I'd seriously look into supporting the 90 degree pipes coming from your bulk heads under the tank & I bet that there is a lot of stress on them already, and one mishap in the sump could dump your entire tank's water..

Do you really think this is a concern? Those are 1.5" pipes into schedule 80 bulkhead with a lot of glue on them. The reason I ask is that I would probably have to tear out the wall I just finished painting last night in order to get to them to support them. It's probably 10 hours or so of labor to get to them and put it back together.

I'm also not sure what I would support them with specifically. plastic wire hung from the stand?

I think all pipes should be supported, on my build I have a steel stand I made a wood support frame that all drains and supply pipes are attached to.
