This Elegance is HUGE. I got it at the Fosters & Smith Frag Swap auction. It is eating well and seems to be settling in great to the tank.

I love this coral. It is gorgeous!

Show Off! Just kidding Lisa, that was a sweet score at the silent auction! I was able to see this piece when she picked it up and it's huge and is stunning looking in person!

Thanks guys. I am crossing my fingers and so far so good. I am worrying a lot though, but leaving it alone.

I wouldn't worry to much. From what I have seen the Aussie Elegance corals don't have the problems the Indo Pacific corals have. One of my LFS's has two Aussies in a very bright tank that would cook an Indo Elegance. and they are doing great.

Lisa, That is a gorgeous elegance, gotta love those purple tips :D. Good luck with it, i bet it does great for you.

elegance,
How long has your LFS had their Aussie elegances?

I'm not sure. It is a new store in the area I just found out about this past weekend. He has been an online dealer for a long time and just opened up a retail shop for us locals. These Aussies didn't look anything like the Indos we have been getting around here. Much healthier! I talked to the owner for about an hour and all he deals with is Aussie Elegance. He said the Indo Elegance keep dieing on him and the Aussies don't.

There is no need to dive to 40 or 60 feet to collect them in Australia.

That is simply a wonderful looking looking coral!

I showed a picture of one of these corals to my wife, and she wants me to get one for our tank.

I wouldn't say they are bullet proof, but I believe they are the same hardy corals we were getting back in the day. They still need to be acclimated to intense lighting, fed regularly, and kept away from high flow areas. Just my 2 cents.

Any update on the condition....
Saw one today at the store However it is kind of big and I had lost 2 Indo ones prior and is a bit shy on getting another one..

Well, after about a week it went into a regression where it didn't look so healthy. Not expanding as much, some tissue damage was evident on the underside of the flesh. I thought it was going to croak on me. Last week it seems to have taken a turn for the better and is extending more, tissue deterioration seems to be healing, and the tentacles look better. I am not sure what happened to be honest. It was expelling zoanthelle every night after the lights went out. Perhaps it had issues with the lighting as has been suggested. It didn't, however, display the symptoms described in the Indo Varieties. I really don't know I just hope that it fully recovers.
