My New Bio Cube 29

I have never added any filter food to my tank, IMO it is unessisary unless you have tings that NEED it (which are also IMO things best left to established tanks and experienced hobbiests). if you add a second ocellaris clownfish get a much smaller one, so that it will be male, almost always (99%) of the time when adding a larger fish you end up getting two females who will fight to the death. if you cant find a smaller one get one about the same size as the other.

also, keep an eye on that ric, it might just be the photo but it looks a bit bleached.

other good fish would be firefish, small gobies and inverts, which are always fun. I would recommend skunk cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp, and fire shrimp, possible a CBS if you dont mind the size of them.

good corals are softies, low light LPS (euphyllia sp., candycane corals, ect), and if you are up to daily feeding sun coral would do well in low light, but they need to be fed every day with small meaty foods. mushrooms, paluothas and zoanthids are also good choices, as are rics.

Thanks moonstream! I think the fish are getting along fine which I am suprised about because when I got home they were basically the same size.
I know the ric was bleached but I was so excited to finally be putting something in my tank that I totally overlooked it.
I think I am going to get a koralia 1 to add flow and the LFS has some really nice candy cane coral.
Does anyone know how difficult it is to upgrade this lights?

Im upgrading the lights on mine tonight, i got the 4.36 from nanotuners, hopufully the few corals i have wil love it.
From what i understand it is not difficult unless you are converting the hood to MH.

I got a koralia 1 today. I have it positioned as I feel other folks do. What are suggestions?

i feel like you need more live rock...from your first post you said you got 16lbs? is that what's in the tank now? ideally you want 1-1.5lbs/gal.
obviously with nano tanks sometimes you are limited with live rock options, but if you can manage to add a few more pieces without disturbing things too much, i would do so

just my .02

I def want to add some more live rock so I get a kind of sloping effect and more room to place corals.

My temp is currently at 78 and I am worried about going much higher.

Now that my tank is up and running and I want to add more stuff is it still possible to alter the first chamber and put the heater in it? How have people cut the first chamber before?

to remove the false bottom on the first chamber just use some needle nose pliers and pull it out, same with the second chamber if you wanted to pull it out as well.

I kept testing my parameters daily and that helped me in figuring out weather i could start adding things, i started with a zoanthids because i had heard abd read that they are hardy, after a week of it being in and opening up fine and looking well i started adding moer stuff.

Thanks El Camaron! I wasn't sure if I was going to have to cut something to get that bottom out. I have some palys and a couple of rics. My tank has been up for over two months now. Do you have any pictures of your tank?

So I was a couple of hours away from home for a family event and just had to stop by the LFS in the area. 25000 gallons in the tank is quite impressive. I picked up these neon green candy canes. I put them on the big rock on the other side of my tank but my snails kept knocking them over. Also for the algae in my sand bed how do I clean it?

So I just had to stop by the LFS on my way home from work and pick up some zoo frags! Will post picks tomorrow. What do people think of me getting a brittle star?

nice additions cjscott, candy makes you dandy lol (half baked) the cane looks good and i think i see the favia in the middle. The zoos will look nice, im into getting rare colorfull ones. log in to mr coral . com i have been getting most of my stuff from them great prices and their stuff is no joke.

sorry i forgot to mention as far as the sand, stirr it up a but on your next water change, it is normal to have though. Do not get red slime removers, just do water change and try to get some flow down there.
