Can anyone tell me what this is? Is it harmful? How do I get it out if need be?

How big it is/was?

I have a deep six hydrometer and it says my salinity is slightly above 1.022.

I'd deep six the deep six and get a refractometer - the plastic ones can be off terribly, and are affected by things like bubbles.

What's your temp?

Have you checked your parameters lately?

The candy is upset by something - temp, salinity, change in water flow, nitrates, nitrites, ammonia, phosphates, calcium - something!

Temp is right around 80 and has been since I got the candy canes. I got a corallife hydrometer and my salinity was way high 1.029 or so. I took 2 gallons of water out and put 2 gallons of freshwater in and it went down to 1.025. Nitrite, nitrate, and ammonia were all good last week. I need to get test equipment for phosphate and calcium.
