My new blue S. Haddoni!!!!

Thats all true.. But I have my suspicions it can significantly change the inebdible fate that an evicerated anemone will follow..

Yes that's true.. Hazardous stuff there so be carefully.. I work wig hazardous chemicals everydays so I am pretty versed in proper PPE if you know what I mean.. :)

IMO, there becomes a point where only active rehabilitation methods will bring a NEM back.. Not sure 125mph is there yet.

IME (( which is 15+ years of keeping S. Haddonis, at one point I had 5 healthy ones )), when the "stomach" inverts/protrudes to that extent, and then looks fine 60 minutes later, it is the beginning of the death cycle. There is a difference b/t the mouth being just open and the "stomach" protruding, neither is a good sign, but one -- protrude -- is a lot worse then the other.

I'm still watching him but I kinda got the feeling he wont make it... Anything you think I could improve on next time? After I put him in the tank I had to go back to work and turned the lights back two hours after in the tank. Could that be a factor?

- Floated shipping bag in water
- Long drop acclimate (1.5 hrs)
- Put screen on tank area to light acclimate
- Removed clowns
- Replaced fresh carbon
- Did 6 gallon water change..

Just curious. Do you know what the temperature of the water in the bag is when it arrived? Before you float it in the tank.

Nope. My wife floated the bag while I got home from work. It floated for around 45 mins. The temp was 75 when I started the drip. I imagine it wasn't too bad otherwise it wouldn't get to 75 that quickly.

What is the temperature of your tank?
Sorry, I'm just asking to get a feel of what the temperature is in the bag when it arrived. Temperature drop with no circulation is the nemesis of shipping an anemone.

Tank is kept at 77.5.

My best guess us the shipping water was around 65-70. I've brought lots of stuff from DD and most are inthat range.

Overall I don't see too many issues. However, I have become a fan of drip acclimating for only a half hour (( assuming the parameters aren't too different )) -- you have to figure that the water it was shipped it has started to foul.

For the one that I received on Thursday I floated for 15 minutes, and dripped for 30. After that it went right into the tank.

How was the mouth when it was still in the shipping bag? (( you may have answered that, but I can't recall )).

He was very deflated and small in the bag. Mouth wide open. After floating him, he expanded a lot while in the bag.

Well... he's looking much better than this morning but this could just be the deflate/inflate cycle.. since the lights been up the insides have not been protruding.. the mouth has been wide open though.. He's expanded to the biggest he's been though.. probably around 8" when fully open.

Fingers Crossed

Fingers Crossed

I am thinking of you :) I know how I was with mine. Checking the tank every few moments for change.. anticipation... anxiety.. I am crossing my fingers for you in hopes he is just getting himself adjusted within the tank. Keep taking pics and keep us posted :)

its starting to look like it will be ok, have you fed him at all? Maybe something small like a krill or something might be simple just to see if he eats, usually, when i have had issues with mine (moving tanks) he would get bad and have his mouth open for days, i would skip feeding for a couple weeks, and then i would start small and he would take it, then i would keep him on restricted diet, small but twice a week, till he was better, you have seen mine, he is what i can tell happy as can be

Nope have not fed him yet.. but its night time and his stomach is inverted again...

So far I'm noticing a pattern:

Night time: inverted stomach + shrinkage
Day time: stomach okay + open mouth + expanded (8-10 inches)

Death row? Maybe he likes light?

Just by chance, is there any smoke or zoox being expelled? It might be doing the cycle of inflation/deflation already. If not, just leave it and watch it closely.

Smoke yes, I always thought it was poop coming from the anemones. Is smoke poop or zoox? How can I tell if it's expelling zoox?

I think that it is probably expelling Zoox, but also could be spawing out of stress. When i lost mine it would sometimes ooze brown slime (Zoox) and then also this white smoke like substance, I think it was sperm from what I have read on the forum.
