My new Blueline has arrived...

ghstrider-Great looking Blueline, good luck with him!

I have had luck with hard to eat fish with Arcti-Pods by Reef Nutrition and I will mix brine and mysis with it.

My show sized scribbled did not want to eat for almost 2 mos, all it would eat was some zoa's and lps.. What i did to gt him eating was live clams. It took a few mos but eventually he would switch to frozen clams and then mysis. Then after a year he went on pellets and nori.
The bigger they are the more work it takes to get them on prep foods. JMO

Patience. This family of angelfish can take some time until they eat. My 8" blueline took I think almost 7 weeks until I saw it eating and now it eats anythin meaty like crazy. Green foods like veggie flakes, spirulina or Nori sheets is a good try. One of my favorite foods is Hikari mysis (try the larger kind also) and as stated above clams.

I highly recommend a FW dip to check for flukes, as this can lead to a loss of apetite and by the time you figure out is has flukes it is very often too late. It is very likely that angels have flukes. If they don't have it from the ocean they often get it from the various wholesalers and LFS, as hardly anyone treats for them.

Tried a live clam cracked open and rubberbanded to a small rock and nada.... He is not interested. This was why I wanted and ordered a 3" blueline and agreed to to go as large as a 4" specimen when the 3" died from a strange lump but this guy is over 5". Its not like i could just send him back so i said i would keep him and Im doing my best to get him eating but im afraid this is going down the wrong road.

As other veterans stated above patience is the key. I've had my share of finicky eaters that have taken 3-7 weeks to eat so there's hope especially that you stated the specimen is "real fat". I usually don't worry too much the first two weeks if the fish is not eating and just continue to vary the diet with small portion few times a day and monitor.

Large Angel's mention of flukes is a strong possibility as well as internal parasites so that's something you should monitor closely.

I wanted to do a prazi treatment in the tank but im afraid since he hasnt eaten it would hurt him so i havent treated the tank. The parameters are are all perfect and the personifer is just loving the varied diet.

com'n,only 3 days and you are disheartened ????
why?have you always found fishes until now which starts to eat within 24 hours in QT??
i am a rookie in this hobby, but i always have that difficulty to get fish eating...my majestic took 7 days and wimple took 10 days to start eating...
your fish looks healthy and it's big too...it can easily go on 2/3 of weeks without eating,if it has no disease..you shouldn't worry now...

I always try to find fish that are feeding before I purchase them but recently started buying online so that is tough since i dont get to hand pick the fish and shipping stresses them again. This is new to me in a way even with 4 years of experience with my reef and several different angels. Its also compounded by the cost of these fish and how tough it is to save up to buy one of these rarer angels then not succeed. When i see my new fish just sitting there as ive supplied him for several days with all types of food i cant help but be a bit stressed.

Eddy - with the clam you should cut tongue meat and have it in the clam shell. Let the clam smell come out.

Patience is key.

There was a good article on glass box recently about preparing foods for finicky angels and butterflies. Not sure if I can post the link but you should check it out.

Prazipro is now in the tank and the personifer is solid. Hes eating well and acting totally normal so if the flukes are in there the prazi should take care of it.

Im hoping NYAquatic stands by their fish. Im waiting on a reply from them now. Theyve been helpful throughout this so I expect nothing less.

wow im sorry to here that. i just read the whole thread. im must be lucky getting all fish that eat within the first 2 days. (all lions, scorps, eel, marine betta)
