My new dendros

I picked these up at a local frag swap in the beginning of December and finally got a decent picture of them. They are only open very late at night and early in the morning. As soon as any light turns on in the house they close up. I took this photo with a flashlight and the flash on the camera.

They look good,I am still looking for some myself.

Thanks, it took 3 months before I got mine. I didnt want to pay the $30 per head price they are going for here. I eventually met someone online and met up with them at a frag swap where they were going to be selling frags. They were the only dendros there and he said everyone was asking for them, but he brought them for me. That was really cool for him to hold them for me and give me a great price on them.

Yeah I have heard and read that but mine dont want to open during the day. Maybe if I try to feed them earlier in the day rather than in the late in the evening around 10:30 they may do better.
Yes, they will open during the day if fed earlier. Part of that write-up describes why many NPS corals tend to only open up at night...

I just lost 1 of the 2 heads I had. I woke up yesterday morning to find a bit of frogspawn in the mouth area of the smaller head and the fleshy part of the dendro was melting away. Pretty bummed about that, hopefully the other head will grow and produce more.

I have a problem with my Dendros...I originally bought 2 heads with 3 babies a few years ago and now have over 30 heads and have a problem feeding them all. It almost takes me 30-40 minutes to just feed them alone (syringe feeding and sitting there waving off fish that try to steal the food). It like one big blob with heads all around. A few large heads died off, but now 2-4 new babies are growing in the dead heads. What is the best way to frag in half with minimal damage? I now have 4-5 dendros growing on the adjacent rock where the blob sits and it is getting to crowded. I saw a big jump in new dendros when I used Aqua Vitro Fuel (at least I think thats what caused the big explosion).

Make sure they're in great shape before fragging, then cut them with a band-saw (like an Inland). That will give you the best success while fragging.
