My new I-Tech....I'm impressed so far

It took a little tweaking last night to get it dialed in just like any other new skimmer.

Here's the Euro reef rs80 after 3 days of skimming:

The I-tech medium fit nicely:

Zero microbubbles exiting.....

This morning. Note that the cup for the I-tech is like 4 times bigger than the Euro reef.

if you lower the water level in the skimmer body it should start to dry out and give you some nice thick foam.that and you may want to lower the sump level just a tad,its hard to tell from the pics how deep the water level in the sump is.

I have the sump level just over the outlet. I set the water level at that point just to eliminate the surface agitation bubbles. That sicce motor pushes some water.

Anybody interested in a slightly used Euro Reef RS 80 for $150.

my RS80 doesn't do that good a job (as your pictured), but I think I need a bigger one, I'm running on a 65g w/ 55g refuge, probably 95-100g total capacity (discounting volume lost for rock and DSB in fuge.

Euro reef is the best bang for the buck IMO.
I have a Rs180 in my 125 and it does a great job !

Brian

Ive owned both and Euroreef is junk compared to the new I-Techs. My RS 250 couldnt even begin to compare to these skimmers.

I did just a bit ago to lower the level in the skimmer neck.

Euro's are good skimmers, but my 75 is WAY overstocked. A huge bio-load that the 80 just wasn't built to handle. Heck you can see by the pics, the I-Tech clearly pulled out 3x more in half a day than the Euro did in 3 days.

quick question... How stocked was your tank when you were running the Euro-Reef?
look at the skimmate as well...see how dark the skimmate is in the ER?
looks like you are running your new skimmer a little on the wet side, thus pulling more water out and filling your cup more...
but other than that, it looks like a great skimmer :)
congrats on the purchase.

Grouper, what's the footprint of the I-tech?

Looks like it's about 10 x 12. It fits with room to spare in my 12" wide 20L sump.

What else is kinda cool is the water movement in the sump now.
