Just wanted to share my new additions to my reef.
A few weeks ago, I contacted Rod at Rod's Reef with some general questions about his Onyx Clowns. He quickly put me in contact with Alex, his "clown handler." After some friendly email exchanges, she offered to send me a pair of hand-picked Onyx Clowns, based on my color/pattern preferences. Needless to say, this was beyond my expectations as my initial plan was just to go through a local retailer to acquire the clowns.
Alex was a pleasure to work with. While you might pay a bit extra for your clowns since you'll have to pay for shipping, you may have the opportunity to work directly with Rod's Reef, and may have your clowns selected based on your criteria (depending on the age of the clowns).
Alex gave me approval to share her contact information. If you're interested in purchasing Onyx Clowns directly from Rod's Reef, send me a PM.
And now, some photos. This package arrived about a week and a half ago:
And when I opened it I saw this:
And, then I popped off the lid:
And drip acclimated:
Then introduced them into my tank (sorry for the bad photo, lights were off and flash was on):
As you can see, they are older than expected. The third band is almost fully developed. I was very happy to see this.
Less than an hour after introduction, they quickly found a new home in my magnifica:
