my new popeyed flame angel!

i recently acquired a flame angel from my lfs. the first morning the fish showed a bit of ich under its left eye. i assumed the ich was just from the stress so i just played it cool and it cleared up in a day or two. now the same eye is enlarged and looks as if its full of fluid. is this popeye? how do you treat popeye? are there certain tank conditions that cause popeye? any one have a link for an in depth thread? id appreciate it greatly

Remove to quarantine and treat with antibiotics.

Sounds like an eye injury .. often associated with netting the fish. In many cases these will go away on their own (fish's immune system) - if not you may need to QT and use an antibiotic - maracyn 2 is readily availalbe and should suffice.

Maracyn two is a great treatment. I have also had great success with moroxy in the liquid form. Whatever you do stay away from coppersafe when treating flame angles. For some reason it kills them usaully within 12- to 24 hours.
