Well, my horses arrived today and they are so great! They are reidi, and I could identify the female from the male, the female is HUGE compared to the male.

They've been doing pretty good. I have fed them and they ate very well.

Pretty much, all they've seemed to do is hang around, almost like they're tired LOL They did perk up once the food was introduced, but now they are lounging again.

Here's a pic, not a very good one, but I tried :)

I got them through a vendor in Edmonton, Alberta. I am not sure where their supplier is located, but they are captive bred I know for sure. They actually do eat like pigs LOL.

I am very happy with them. I hope my tank isn't too boring for them, but I guess I will learn what they like, if anything special.

I tried them on my feeding station I made, but they really liked to find their own food floating on by, so I went with that. I made sure not to give too much to pollute the tank, but it is connected to my main tank's sump system so it shouldn't be too bad I guess. I don't have a lot of flow going on in there, so I might have to do some housekeeping if I see things laying on the sandbed that shouldn't be.

I am glad my husband made the rock tower he did, because they do like to wrap their tails around the tiny pieces and there's lots of holes for them to hitch into...they enjoy that it seems.

Are females generally larger than males? I am sure these have to be different ages. I was supposed to get the "small" size, and well to me, small would be much smaller than what I got. All in all, I am not in the least dissapointed, I love them :)

Try taking pictures without the flash and just the aquarium lighting. They'll definitely turn out better.

Glad to hear they've adjusted so well. Just don't get too comfy yet. I've had a lot of fish that eat like pigs for the first few days and seem to do well, then mysteriously stop eating in the second week and died as a result. But that might just be me. I really don't mean to rain on your parade.

Wow, they're pretty cool! I totally can't wait to get mine now! You will have to post more pictures. And, don't worry about picture quality, I can never take a good picture of my tank, it's always the flash that blurs everything, lol!

seahorses DO eat like pigs-mine ate in the acclimation bucket. it was a long trip for something without a stomach. they only have intestine...

my kudas are different sizes, just like people-females aren't always bigger than males, males aren't a;ways bigger than females.

How does one know if they are mature enough to breed? Or does it just happen? I know the place where I got them from said that they had some breeding, but if they were separated from their mate, they will take a month or so to pair up again. I am in no hurry to see them procreate. I know they are a difficult species to raise fry too which is a little discouraging that their babies will not survive. Hate to see anything die.
