My New SPS Reef

I am still trying to figure it out myself...

I will try to show a draft later.

Great work and perfect skimmer choice :)

Agree :hmm5:

Nice tank you have. Ok in South Africa we use the same slim overflows as yours. We also have the returns built next to the overflow so no pipes you see. The glass is tinted so you dont see anything. Check out sareefkeeping.com

Very cool. Nice forum there, do you have some pics ? Would like to see if you guys are doing the same thing

Now I have to fill the tank

well to me if you look at the far left you see wa looks like the silicone which looks thicker.... i believe there is a very thin false wall there :) that will eventually hit the little magical box :) which i believe is why the magic box sticks out a bit at the bottom of the stand :) correct me if im wrong but its what i think is going on with this magic trick haha :)

AWESOME setup man, i love the tanka bove the sump, initially i though it was going to be a fuge but then i saw that its going to be a fresh water top off tank. Maybe i was too tired when i read it though.... I have always wanted to do that in all my tanks but i tend to overbuild teh sump and making a huge stand inside the stand never became a real option for me haha. That and i usually got real lazy once the stand was built and everything layed out! but hopefully this time i can get ir done :)..

Thanks for sharing!

For those trying to figure out this overflow.

Imagine 2 glasses panels, face to face, with 4 millimeter between them, this is how it works, watter will fall through the glasses, everything else will not. That's it.

click here to see a closer view and better understand it. On this case there is a backup overflow just behind.

Hey bro are you going to top off to the sump from the little tank on the right? If so you have to be careful for siphoning. The siphon will not break unless your water release point in higher than the water level in the reservoir. I think you know this though. Just making sure.

Awesome build!

Hi,

Yes, the little tank on the right is for top off.

The top off will be by gravity. I´m going to use a float. I used this kind of top off in all my last tanks

Nice BK Mini 180 bro! Care to shed some light on your views of its performance? :)

I really dont see how that overflow will work. Having the slot for water to overflow into being on the bottom, wont that suck in the sand from the bottom also?? Can I see more pics of the overflow set up?? It looks interesting the way you set it up. Nice build so far

Would you mind taking more pictures of the overflow. Is the hole in the little box the return?

If so, where is the water draining to?

Hi,

It´s too soon to talk about performance, but the bk cleaned my water in a couple of hours. Before I bought him, I did a lot of research and I think bk 180 is one of the best option for me

This is looking very very good Denadai! Looking forward to more pictures!

Hello, it´s a honor to read you, your reef is a piece of art , I will try to do something like that, but if I achieve half of your, I will be happy :)

Hi Roberto:wavehand:,

Very nice setup, solid and clean. Great choise on equipment!
I'll follow the thread with attention.

Thank you Ricardo :)

The plumbing is almost done, I just have to attach the float now

I will , just give me a couple of hours to do a good pic here

Guys,

Here is the draft as I promisse, very simple

The water falls in the red hole, and them go to inside the little box, that´s it

Imagine that you are looking below the main display. Hope it works

I know that Denandai draws very well!
But I think these pictures can help a bit ...

This is a complete system, with overflow, and a second emergency overflow. We can even make a return by this system.

Hey Denadai!
Nice project....lol....fun reactions on your overflow! But relax guys, it took me some time to fully understand it too.....but this images Henrique posted makes it very easy to get it.

oh haha what were your other options besides the BK? I have a tank like yours and possible look into an upgrade for my skimmer. I have a decent deal on a 2nd hand BK Mini 200. But the thought of getting the spares if my skimmer breaks down troubles me. lol
