Can't wait to get it setup...

I would have to add a room for a tank like that!

Never mind, I would have to take out an equity loan just to get all the equipment needed and to stock it!

Join a local club!! I started collecting equipment two years ago thru group buys. Then wait for a good deal to come along on a tank as close to what you want. I was lucky in that I found a tank exactly the size I wanted, but one foot longer (even better). It's the little things like plumbing that kill you when your ready to set it up.

Pierce, I don't think I could pull off getting the metal for free to build a stand that big!

That is what I'm gonna try and do for most of it, but even then it is going to take a good while. there is a local guy with a 360 that he is going to want to sell, but the tank is over 5 years old, and is having some leaking problems. He said that it was easily fixed, but I don't want to mess around with it. I'll probably use alot of base rock, as well as what I currently have in my tank. I've also thought about getting a 180 first if I can find a good enough deal on one, and work around that, turning it into a fuge when the time comes and I have all of the equipment. What I'm wanting to run doesn't come available used very often. I'm willing to spend more on low power usage equipment and save money in the long run on power. Thinking about the BK400 as my skimmer, so if you see one of them available used let me know :D

Ohh and I'm in three or four clubs

Well, things are slowly moving forward. I was able to move my temporary tank out of the way, mount the top of the stand, and move the stand into the house. This is a picture I took before I moved the temp tank.

Also today, Savko finally sent the valves I ordered two weeks ago.

This weekend I'll be at the NASCAR Race, so I won't be able to move the tank in for another few weeks :(

all I have to say is that stand looks hot man! Slow and steady man, no sense rushing it anyway. Although I'll probably eat my own words at some point in time.....

It's been slow due to illness, and now a vacation, and when I get back, cash flow ;) I guess it's back to 60 hour work weeks next month to get caught back up on things. I just hate looking at a 40 gallon tank when I have a much nicer one sitting in the garage.

Very undrestandable, all good things come to those who wait... man I must be either tired or in a very proverbial mood :D

BTW what do you have to buy yet that is causing the slowness due to cash flow? I've already started saving for my next tank, although the black tang I'm getting this week won't help that out any....

Ken, you need to take some comparison shots to show the massive size of that stand. I was there last night picking up a prop system from Ken's house and couldn't believe the craftsmanship and strength of the stand. I believe that this stand will create a new benchmark for myself and others who take pride in their tanks. The Linex coating on the stand makes this stand impervious to the elements and just looks plain bithchin'(pardon my French) It also deadens the sound, we pinged the stand and dead silence, which is what we all strive for since our wives for some reason don't dig the niagra falls or humming of a 5,00gph pump inside our living rooms, GO FIGURE!!!
Nice work Ken, and get your a** to California Speedway!!!!!!
Thanks again,
Brent Higa

The only thing I didn't plan for is the plumbing, valves and plywood. Lucky for me that my neighbor works for McMaster Carr, so that helped. I meant more of, I need vacation cash for food (you tend to drink a lot of beer at the races too) go figure!

Thanks Brent, I just wish I could have had it up before you leave to Texas, now I need to find someone else that's as gungho as you to keep me moving!

I've heard that plumbing can get you quick, and get expensive. It doesn't supprise me that you'll be drinking a lot of beer. I would too, although I've never been to a race even though it all started out here, although I've wanted to go to Charlotte for a while, but just haven't gotten around to it. Too many other expensive hobbies.

I've had an infield spot at the race track since they opened it! Charlotte would be a blast to go to, it's a great track.

Plumbing is one of those things that doesn't sound expensive, $1.50 for a fitting is deceiving when you need 60 of them! I couldn't believe the price of plywood either, $35 for the top sheet and $30 for the bottom sheet. It all adds up to a lot more than you can imagine.

I understand, I spend 300 on materials for my stand and plumbing for my 40B, it all adds up quickly that is for sure. You check out at the hardware store and start wondering where it all comes from. I'm starting to get numb from HD, doesn't phase me any more dropping a 100 bucks on aquarium stuff. You are going with sweeps though, so I'm sure that will add to alot of the cost. Make sure you use clear pvc primer. Will look much better then using the purple crap, and come out alot cleaner.

Hey Ken! Been a long time! Glad to see that you are upgrading, and nicely too!

The mini stars you gave me are still going strong.

Man, that was some time ago! The upgrade has been in the works for some time now, it's nice to see if finally starting to happen.

koiandcoral,
[welcome]

updated? come on ken when is the tank going on that new stand and getting filled with water?

Gabriel,
Ken is out in Fontucky watching the Nascar race from the infield!!
He will be back Mon. to give me a hand breaking down my tank for the move to Texas Tues.
I don't know how he has the will power to not work through the night and have that badboy up. If I knew that it was sitting in my garage I have wet dreams about it up!!!
Good to see you at the last MASLAC meeting
