My camera needs some adjusting - it tends to wash everything out - the light is alot more blue then it looks.

Hey Justin, Did you notice? I got Mount Bubblicious Back. rofl.

LMAO!I was saying just that as I was looking at it!Then I was thinking well if it isnt where the hell is she getting these damn bubble gum rocks! Nice scaping TK, are you gonna secure them all together so no avalanching?

-Justin

likely not, at least not yet.

The picture of course 1 dimensional - You cant really tell how staggered the rocks are. There is way more crevises, caves, shelves etc... then what you can see in the picture. There is as much space behind the rocks as there is in front. I'm thinking Fish paradise.

Believe it or not, you could bump around those rocks all day and they wont fall. Every rock I placed, I wiggled and bumped and thumped to see how stable it is. Since I am always aquascaping I'm partial to just placing them securely rather than cementing them into place.

I'll learn my lesson one day, but while there isnt much in there I want it to be versatile so I can move things when I want/need to.

As far as Mt. Bubblicious goes. I was really stupid when I got that rock. The Guy was breaking down a 150g tank. All his base rock looked like Mt. Bubblicious. Covered in coralline and Featherdusters and sponges. He said I could have whatever pieces of base rock I wanted for FREE. Stupidly I only selected the one Large Piece thinking I wouldnt need/want/fit any more than that. DOH DOH DOH!!!

I really do like all the nooks and nitches, and Im with you.If I can wedge securely enough, Im not going to epoxy.

Wouldnt it be great if devine intervention happend and all the kids were napping and >poof< the house was clean and Scotty was beemin people for free, and we could just all make rounds to each others house and check out each others tanks all day.Ahh,back to reality :)
Hows about some equipment shots?;)

Lay off the pipe Justin!

Sure ok - Equip pics coming soon... or whenever I get the chance. :p

equipment pics - now forgive me but all these photos are taken in tight spaces so they arent great.

My Durso Success: Notice the 2nd picture where the pipe enters the drain - this was the solution I came up with to make it fit.

The Drain to sump, I added some 45 elbows to the drain which solved the flushing in the overflow.

Light - I have this x3 above the tank. hard to get a photo altogether tho.

Is the top of your Durso an open T? I am just confused I am thinking about converting my overflow to a Durso. I bought one but it is not going to fit in my space so I have to make one so I would greatly appreciate a little info/pics on how yours is plumbed. Does it make a big difference in noise/bubbles?

Alright - So where are we?

Tank Params are good. have about 15ppm on the nitrates but thats about it. Fine tuned some flow issues and had to aquascape yet again to get it all right. The new aquascape is much better tho.

I have a ton of neon green sponges shaped like little balls, also have some beautiful blue/purple sponge growing really fast from some frags I got from yourreef. here is a few pics:

still no fish, but I'm starting to get anxious. I'll have to make my first selections soon or I do believe I will go nuts.

other than a small selection of corals I have my cleanup crew. As boring as that may sound, I've discovered so many neat hitchhikers. The Hermit I had found several weeks ago has easily quadrupled in size and has taken a massive turbo snail shell as a home. The red leg hermits have grown significantly as well and as large as the tank is they are constantly having run ins with eachother.

here is a pic of the hitchhiker VS the Nas Snail, winner gets the shrimp - Hermy won!

I've spotted amphipods dang near a half inch long scurrying about. And of course 1000's of copepods. I have noticed way a huge number of these: (taken from melevsreef.com)

These have caused me some concern, anybody have any thoughts on what to do if anything?

well thats it, not alot going on but I figured I'd bring it all up to date.

One more thanks to Marc, the Live Sand he gave me was absolutely fantastic. A few scoops of his has turned my 100 lbs of dead to a constantly writhing substrate of spaghetti worms, bristle worms and who knows what else.

You are very welcome. As for the hydroids, I have some pop up every now and then, and they quickly disapear. They are not photosynthetic, so just don't feed anything small like cyclopeze, brine, etc. untl they disappear. That's what I have done and they quickly disappeared...not sure if the food trick did it, but it didn't hurt.

Ya, dont even sweat it. They show up predominantly in new tanks and eventually disappear within a few months. I have a couple on my glass as well with my new tank. And remember seeing them on my current display when it was new over 4 years ago. Reminds me of snowflakes. Thats the best closeup Ive seen to date on em TK,nice pic!
