My new tank

Well, my 120 had a baby. The stork delievered her to RAP and I brought her home today. She is 36" long, 24" wide, and 24" deep. She is reef ready and drilled for 4 returns and a closed loop. She has an external overflow, (not U Tube HOB, but built in on the outside).

Beautiful tank. SoCal Creations did a great job.

For now she is resting in a quiet safe room at home. After we find a spot for her and acquire all the requisite equipment we'll set her all up.

Sorry folks, no pics for now. Maybe when she 's a few days old.

I was in the background when you were getting it.
VERY GOOD BUY.

I'm thinking of switching my 90gal to that style too with the external over flow and closed loop.

Well Congradulations! on your new born.

Haha I took a shot of your baby.

I wish more people were wearing name tags.

I was confident that most of the people there were reefcentral people.

It would have been cool to put faces to all the names.

Since I was wearing a name tag lots of people were talking to me as if they new me, but I didn't know who they were :)

Thanks guys.

dougiee were you the guy I was talking to while I was making an offer?

My F1sh R D34D!, thanks for the pic :)

I think next year everyone should be required to wear a sticker of their RC avatar on their chest :)

Cheers

The entire thing was meant to be. When I entered the gate and saw the tank I knew it would be mine. Even if it were $2000 I still would have bought it. And then my wife, who wasn't even coming to the event, shows up in a Van right as I'm buying it. And I'm like, *** are you doing here baby? And she's like, I was in the area and I thought I'd stop by. Now I had a Van!

I just think it was my lucky day, because if she had not showed up, I would have had to make two trips in my Prius to get it home. That would have sucked.

It's funny, after the transaction was complete my wife stood near the tank for a little while telling people to stop touching it.

SHe was like, "hey you, don't touch that, its ours now.".

is your baby still flasing her undies?

Yes :)

Her underside is exposed.

In my giddy stupidity, SoCal Creations let me drive off without loading the doors into my van.

I emailed Randy and I hope he gets back to me soon. I'm assuming for this type of thing it's not an issue for them to just ship me the doors.

I don't know who to be more frustrated at; myself for not checking I had everything, or them for not making sure I had everything.

Ultimately it's my fault. I just hope they took them home so they have them, and they didn't leave them at RAP

Oh, and Bryan, just so you know, she's hung like a horse.

Hahahaha thats not good....or is it?

Sweet, congrats on your new tank. I have the same exact tank from SCC except my external overflow is on the left corner and I don't have holes for a closed loop. I also had them drill a hole on each rear corner for pump cords. I have the same style stand as well except I went with a 36" high and a different stain. I also had them build a 40g custom sump I designed to fit inside the stand and still allow a CA reactor and a few other things to fit in there.
Don't worry about the doors. I'm sure Steve and Randy won't have a problem shipping them out to you. They've offered to ship a couple of things I've forgotten at their shop in the past. Those guys do amazing work at an affordable cost.
Have fun with your new project. It will be very hard for u to look at that thing empty. I had to wait almost a month before I could fill mine since I needed to add dedicated circuits to where it was going.

IsaaX, I remember your thread!

Your tank was the first time I had even seen an external but built in overflow. I remember posting in your thread about why you didn't put it in the display, but then you explained it to me. And from then on I was very impressed by the design. So when I saw this at the show I was very interested in it because it had that type of overflow design.

I am very excited.

I like your stain better than mine, and I am debating if I will even use the stand or make my own. We just don't have any other yellow furniture in our house.

Cheers

Josh,

Oh Yeah! I remember now lol. Yeah I have to totally update that thread. Tank has been up and running and is winding down on it's cycle.

If it were me, I'd use the stand unless you wanted something taller. It might be hard to find someone to buy that stand from you considering the dimensions. If you're fine with the current height, but you don't like the color, then you can stain/paint it yourself or maybe ask Randy to redo it for you if they are not too busy. That stand will make your setup look clean IMO.

Did they include a Durso Standpipe in the overflow?

No there was no standpipe. Buit they said that's why the overflow box is only 5" tall, so you don't need a stand pipe.

I'm not too sure if I believe that theory.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks
Josh

hey, get that thing plummed so I can fill it with all my rock and corals...

you got a job already? :eek1:

Bryan, if I don't fill it up with water does that mean you have to stay?

Then I'll make sure not to filll it up.

Seriously though, it will be awhile before I do anything with the tank. Step 1 will be getting the doors. Step 2 deciding on location. Step 3 deciding on configuration, Step 4 acquiring canopy and sump, Step 5 acquiring all equipment, Step 6 assembly and plumbing, Step 7 cycle. I hope to be in step 4 by December.

Cheers
