My new tank

Thanks Guys, its coming along. Today I decided to go to Exotic and invest in a new pump wanted something a little more quiet. So I picked up a Reef-flo Snapper to be the heart of my system. Np Mark I didnt really have time today to chit chat. Worked on the plumbing all day. After a couple of trips to home depot. Heres what I got done. Not as much as id have liked but you know how it goes measure 5 times to make 1 cut.

Picture of the Snapper and the start of the return manifold.

Next is of the drain 2x 1" drains coming together to a 2" tee and feeding the sump.

Would have kept going with the return but I found that I was missing 2x 1 1/2" ->1" reducers. So that brought that to a screeching halt when my lovely and very supportive wife said "heck no your not running back to home depot. Youve been at this all day" lol I guess I can understand. Theres always tomarrow.

After talking to a few people I decided to change my drain a little bit. It was brought to my attention that both the drains running into the skimmer side of the sump would be way to much flow through my skimmer and fuge. So I split up the drains with the option of a allowing more water to get to the skimmer.

Appreciate any imput guys ive thought this out but no doubt there is stuff that could be improved or that just isnt right.

is that drain going to the return area? really? if you didn't need that much flow through the sump/fuge, then I would use a smaller pump, but since you already have the return pump, that was a really good idea

Looking really good. The snapper is gonna blow all the water outta the tank!! You'll have a nice spa if nothing else.

I have a reeflo dart on my 120 for the closed loop. The cool thing about the reeflo pumps is that you can throttle back the outlet anyway you like. Throttling back also actually reduces amp draw.

Yeah I was basicly looking for a pump that could do it all. Im trying to minimize the amount of pumps in the sump. I was working on the manifold all evening for the right side return. Im putting in alot of ball valves to be able to direct the flow however I need. Should have it done tomarrow night. Then on to the left side return which is going to be alot more difficult since im going to plumb it through my outside patio wall to feed my chiller then back to the tank.

Heres an update on whats been happenning I completed the right side return manifold. So all thats left for plumbing is penetrating the wall for the left side return via the chiller. Heres some pictures.

Next Pete and I got to work on the canopy though its not done yet we worked on it all day today and only have a couple more hours on the build then its time for puddy and stain. Still will have to order the doors but thats last.

These last two pictures the canopy is upside down because we were working on the tank side trim. We had to stop because we had alot of wet glue and claps* not clams (edit) man you can tell im a reefer!

Plumbing and cabinet skills, I need a kitchen remodel done, when you have time of course. Looks good. You have enough room in the canopy for a CAT to hide in.

yeah that was the intent. I wanted to be able to store my dousing pumps, food, ect up on top. I also wanted to be able to hang my lighting and have enough room to get it out of the way when i want to get into the tank. As for cats hiding in there. Only dogs here! lol

Well Pete and I finished the canopy tonight. All thats left on it is a little sanding some stain and doors. Heres the pics of my sexy canopy.

Pictures look good. How is the size? Does it fit well? Let me know if you need any tips on sanding. Sand the whole thing before you putty once, and then make sure you get filler designed for hardwoods, like oak, and that will take stain.
