My new toy

I've actually had this for several weeks now so I'm late in posting it up. I've added a new GEO Beckett skimmer to my acrylic collection. Well, it's actually replaces my other skimmer.

I am impressed at the difference between this skimmer and the others I have tried. Even, dare I say, better than the GEO recirc needle wheel which it replaced. Not quite the size of the monster skimmers (it's 38" tall) I'd put it up against them any day :D

I took a quick video but it was rushed and pretty poor quality. I'll try again and post it up.

George tried to talk me into one when I got my needle wheel. I finally listened. :)

Actually due to my laziness the impeller had a bunch of calcuim build up. I believe this led to excess heat and it broke. That's what got me looking into options.

That looks like a baby. Looks like you got the twist lock feature.
Pretty amazing the CRAP these things pull out.

What made you go with the beckett?

If you seen George's Beckett run, you would understand. Mine is 8 x 48 and seems to be able to handle what ever you throw at it. I have 15 fish in my tank of which 2 are large tangs, 2 are very large tangs. I feed very heavy and have no issues with water quality.

That's sweet Mark!!! I recently had Geo build me a skimmer too and I was thinking a Beckett as well, but since I already had a Laguna 1500 with a mesh wheel I went with a skimmer that can use that. I could hit 85 scfh with it but I backed it down to 65 and it is working awesome. Geo skimmers are second to none in terms of build quality performance and price.

:D yeah I guess I should have posted some pics up, least I could do is give Geo some props for these awesome skimmers.

Mark:

Put the air meter on and see what it's pulling in. I think mine is pulling in about 140 scfh and Joe's was about the same. Curious to see if they all pull the same. What pump are you pushing it with???

No can do I have a fancy lid for my beckett chamber. But funny thing is, is that I'm going to get it modified so Ican draw air from Outside or another room. When that happens I will definately throw an air meter on there. It's got to be up there though as it pulls a heck of a lot of air.

I'm using a pan world 200. Which is probably more pump than is needed.

So you have the third generation of Geo beckets!!!! That is the same pump I'm using so with the same becket head it will probabl draw the same. Maybe I'll post a pick of the sewage mine pulls out.
