If he is a wild percula he may refuse all anemones except for H. magnifica and S. gigantea. Though even with wild ones I have witnessed a wide bandwidth of individual acceptance of anemones - some are not picky at all while others insist on natural hosts.

.... I'd get another Percula if I were in your shoes.

+1
That's IMO the only thing that should be done.

Thanks for the input everyone..will def. pair him with another perc in the future. Thumb of rule though must be smaller correct?wish he was a bit larger but having a small pair is fine..he was listed as a TR true perc I'm assuming tank raised

Yes the rule of thumb is to get a smaller one preferably an inch or less to guarantee you getting a male and your current one should become female if it's not already. Since you do have a wild caught fish I would do everything possible to purchase another wild caught percula.

So you guys think he's wild caught.kinda confused about it because on they're ad they were listed as"TR true percs"and I thought the tr meant tank raised..just woke up and he's still swimming pretty exited to see him in action today

He is tank raise, not wild caught. If you can get a better picture of him, some of us may point out why we think that he is tank raise.

Based on the photos we've seen so far, I'm going with TR. These are all generalizations, but here are my reasons:

1. I see a shorter dorsal fin (though obviously not erect in any of the photos) in contrast to all of the WC percs which have really tall dorsals.

2. The face looks a little flat, but I think that's the camera angle.

3. The patterning looks like it comes from a Picasso lineage, and many breeders who breed Picassos typically sell the individual clowns that don't exhibit enough of the Picasso pattern as true percs.

And some more pictures...so couldn't get him to eat but seem pretty active he seems to use the frogspawn as it's home so far..thanks for sharing the knowledge on clowns too

Wait a bit until he is healthy and active. I agree with D-Nak, the dorsal is a litte small, and the face is just a littel deformed.
An other characteristic for TR is the smaller pelvic fins. Once you breed Percula like D_Nak and I, we just see the minor abnormalities on the TR specimens. It is hard to raise Perfect Percula. It is a lot easier to raise perfect shape Ocellaris (but still hard)

Don't have the intentions atm to breed ..thanks again everyone I now know what he really is..I agree about the face I noticed like a little dent on the side of its face that didn't seem normal..will try my hardest to give it at least a year before I try to introduce a mate for it..
So being said that it's tr are the Chances are better the rbta will host in the future..

to 1. - the short dorsal is typical for percula and some wild ones have very short ones.

I fully agree on the other two points.

This is for sure a tank raised.

The way this fish keeps his fins down would make me nervous - it's borderline clamping which could be a sign of a beginning Brooklynella infection. I hope you gave him a formalin dip before putting him into the tank... a few weeks of quarantine would have been even better.

I think they do better, seem happier in pair. I would get a mate for him as soon as you can. I like to keep fish in breeding unit, unless they are solitary in nature.

I agree. You get a much more interesting behavior and the fish are in general happier too.

Yea sorry guys no dip and no qt I know bad practice but I'd have to say I never have ..always from the same Lfs and they do a good job at it...I really hope he isn't sick..
If he's around for another week I'll start looking for mate..since he's only about only 2" I need to find one that's about 1" -1 1/2" correct?
