These were purchased from my LFSes in Singapore. These Yumas are from Indonesia and Philippines. We do get quite many of these in Singapore. Occasionally some of our LFSes bring in 100-500 pcs each time.

I was going to post this in the other ric thread but instead of hijacking it I figured I would come to your thread....

What is your survival rate with Yumas? Some of the ones you pictured if they looked like that here would be dead in short order due to shipping stress.....With you being closer to collection points has your survival rate increased? Wondering if this is the case as yumas here in US dismal survival rate I would say with discussing with other collectors close to 90% death.

If your willing to discuss Yumas off forum please e-mail me with the e-mail option here at RC since I cannot get PMs. Any info you can provide would be great as I have other questions for you....

Ok, my survival rate for my Yumas is usually 70% to 90%. It could be that Singapore is much closer to Indonesia and Philippines where most Yumas are harvested. But even amongst my reefer friends locally, we do have vastly different Yuma survival rates. Some of my friends have never successfully kept Yumas in their tanks and all would melt away within a month. So i think it could be due to other parameters rather than just stress due to shipping.

Thanks bro for the info......I am starting to think it is a water/chemical issue.....

I believe it's not just a water/chemical issue. Based on my personal experience, I would say the following affects the survival rates of the Yumas:

1) lighting
2) feeding frequency
3) colours of the Yuma
4) temperature

after years of them melting on me I now photo acclimate them from the beginning....It is a months process.....What is the temps you keep them at? typical reef temps? Not sure about color, feeding I know can play a role but that is long term and most melt within first month and show signs before that.....Thanks for the discussion on them.....Hope you don't mind the slight hi-jack of your thread.....

I keep my tank at 28-29 degC.

I find that colour does play a part, most of my Yumas that fade or melt are usually the multi colour Yumas. Also my experience is that different Yumas prefer different light intensities.
