I have read a lot about modding Maxijet 1200 to generate flow like a Tunze, so I had to give it a try.....

I must say I bet this thing will out perform a tunze for flow...total cost was right at 50.00 with shipping and everything...
I'm getting ready to put a second one in and take out the CL system.
I am just worried that 2 of these could be to much flow...lol

you bought or built? $50 sounds awfully pricy for building one. Neat trick though, I'm very glad someone thought to try it

19.00 maxijet

21.00 for the kit with all parts for the mod

9.00 mag float

couple bucks for shipping

This mod is as easy as you can imagine with the kit from www.mjmods.com
had it assembled in about 3 hours including the time for the glue to dry...

That is awsome...lets get a few people together in the QCA and make a night of sniffing some glue and putting together some mods.... I have an extra mj1200 to play with. Anyone want to organize this?

I made one from scratch and all that I can get it to do it suck the water in. It doesnt blow the water out it blows the water right back into the maxi-jet.
Any thing that I can do
Thanks Nick

kind of on the subject, is there a way to use the smaller magfloat (the nano size) instead of the big mag float? Will it hold the MJ in place or will it blow off the mag?

I know that Billy in the QC's was working on these mods. He had some other type of magnets in mind for holding these mods.

We do need to organize a meeting so a bunch of us can make some of these!

I would love to build 3 or 4 of these... Time, Money, and Know-How the three essentials that I think that a group project could cure at a meeting especially if materials were in bulk to save some $$$. I would really apperciate a meeting on this or if someone woul like to spend a weekend or weekday evening showing me how...

I could host 5-6 people in my shop for an experimental weekend in Davenport. It is a bit small, but it will not hurt anything, plus I have enough powertools to build a small house in the meantime. (While I am thinking about it, I do need to put on a new roof!) I have the weekend of Aug 26-27 or Sept 9-10 free if anyone would be interested.
I doubt that we could get the kits cheaper by a bulk of 8-10 kits, maybe if you would get 25+ but who knows. I will be getting 2.
Should we start a new thread so we do not steal much more of ensteins thread

You intake is too restrictive, open it up and the prop will be able to start in the correct direction.

Deluxe Kit gives you different shafts for different ways to do the mod, Like carbon fiber etc. If you have not done the mod before I suggest doing the first one the original way...so you understand the process. Then try a solid Carbon Fiber shaft mod.

just my 2cents worth

Steph

You need to put in a stop pin ...your prop is starting in reverse.
On mine if it starts in reverse it will hit the pin and change to the correct direction.....

I will come and help with any get together we organize just let me know when and where...

I built four of them now for scratch and I would love to have a real shop to work in insteads of work over the bathroom sink. I was thinking of making some of the smaller mods as I don't need another 3000GPH monster in my tank.

I was wanting to built one with the Q-stop as I hadn't done one yet.

I have built a few for my tank, they are really cheap to make without the kits, but the kits do have the apeal of now powertools needed. I made them with straight intake slots and angled, but they are not as pretty because I use a dremel for everything.
