The only thing that worries me about his mod is that a smaller fish might find thier way into the prop chamber when a wavemaker has the powerhead turned off.

How likely is this?

It hasn't happened yet but the blenny worry me none of mine are on wavemakers yet.

A screen would cause to much drag but you could add eggcrate light diffuser.

Covey, can you organize getting all the parts together through tower? You might want to check with enstien about precisely what parts were included in the kits. I figure I have enough tooling to make the covers from PVC. Probably try to make them up a few days before everyone shows up. Then again, I justr have my shop in a 11X22 area so space is a bit tight for a large group, but have good table area to lay the things up without worrying that I am going to ruin the kitchen table.
Sept. 9-10 would be ideal so we can get all our ducks in a row.

The sept. 9-10 would be fine with me. I don't like the kits for the shrouds and the fact that last time I checked they don't carry the dumas props. For anyone interested in the MJ1200 mods the 1.75 Dumas is the king flow wise.

Even if I was ordering props and shaft for the whole club it still won't cost much I can swing it.

The afternoon of the 10th would be the best. say 1:00pm? Who all is interested? like I said in earlier post, I can handle 5-6 at the most. Have counter space to lay up as many as needed. if there is a bigger turnout, we would need to seek anotehr alternative.

I just ordered a kit to se how the pipe is cut and am planning on fabricating the housing units for anyone that would want. It doens't seem too bad for a few rips on the table saw. But we would need the rest of the parts. can you organize that covey once we see what type of demand we will be having?

Please post a confirmation if positively wanting to come on the afternoon of the 10th. I am located in NW Davenport.

I am in...

I am in NW davenport also...
I live up North Fairmont in the new subdivision across from Buchanon grade school

Just got my mod finished I took your advice greenlee and put more cuts closer to the maxi jet and it works like a champ.
Thanks Nick

Would 2 1200's with this mod provide enough flow in a 6' 125G tank if they were placed facing eachother and if they were not hooked to a wave maker?

Also, what does the stop do? This whole thing has me a bit confused.

Covey

I cant find any details on how to make the newer stop piece.
I have seen the pic of it but it would be nice if there were some intructions somewhere on how to make them.

Like I said it is buried in the main thread I think the guys that came up with it was Qtram something like that. There was also a separate thread "Advanced stoppers for the MJ mod" .

Anyway it is pretty simple I can make it. Its just a matter of finding the right pieces.

Once we get a solid head count I can just order the props and shafts for everyone and you can pay me back at the mod party.

Hey board members do we want to make this an official club event and make it bigger or should we just keep it as is?

Has anyone in the C.R. area done this mod yet or are you planning to? I see a lot of people posting in the QC area, but nobody around here really.

If some one could search for this it would be cool
"Advanced stoppers for the MJ mod"
I was looking for the thread and couldn't find it.

Also Billy what hardware store did you get that spacer from that you used on the other mod?

I would like to put one of the new style stoppers together ahead of time so I can show everyone else how to do it and have the part for it ahead of time.

Home depot. Come by the house I have one you are more then welcome to(if I can find it)

Where would the cheapest place be to order MJ 1200?
Also, Covey, are you gathering parts I could buy from you. Or should I gather them up myself? Any parts that would be not available locally that it would be smart to order just in case?

TIA,

Kevin

Are there any spots open still for the mod party? I'd still like to order stuff to do two mods with the rest of the group if possible. Could somebody recommend which MJ (400, 600, 900, or 1200) I should do the mods on for a 75 gallon tank?
I have a couple of extra MJ1200s that I will sell for $10 each (or trade for something), I could bring them to the mod party.
Thanks!
Anna

Looks like there are four of us so far and anna would be five. We could get another one or two squeezed in, or just open the door. People I have down:
Einsteins (Demonstrator/expert)
IowaKevin
Covey
Annamarie
Myself
I am still looking for the gray sch80 parts, but will still need the endcaps for a center, as well as the rod and props. How many mods are we looking at completing? Please give a number so we can get enough parts. I am planning on making the housing units.
Also anna, I will make you a deal on the 1200's. I just bought a couple 900's but would like more umph.

Gray sch80 is at lowes in the plumbing section off to the side.

Everyone else and Kevin I will just go a ahead and order the props and shaft and possible some endcaps for everyone ahead of time so we all don't have to pay seperate shipping.

Once we know:
Who is coming.
What MJ there moding
How many there moding
and if anyone wants backup props(a good idea)

We can get a hard count and I will order everything.

I was planning on building the housing at the party but if anyone just wants the full kit we could order those too.

The cheapest place for MJ is usally.

I am planning on ordering some stuff from PA in a week or so. So you might be able to add on some MJs to my order.

We have a certain amount of leeway as I made all of mine with local parts but if all tired to buy local i don't think we would have enough props to go around.

So what are you moding folks?
Me two of the MJ400
